I think it is only a matter of time that his touches go up, and then his stats will likely become even more monstrous, especially if it coincides with more free throws, a better free throw percentage, and more threes at a higher percentage. Could eventually get to Jokic territory.
don’t think ime’s priority is to maximize offensive production at this point. We have a number of young players to develop. and the stat is misleading as well. Sengun leads the team in front court touches by far. Sengun 45 per game vs fvv 32 per game in 5 more minutes and green 27 per game. As a reference jokic is at 53 touches per game.
Here is a youtube link for someone explaining Alp's offensive game. I guess he did a pretty good job of breaking down his offense. If you are interested, it is a pretty fun video to watch...
I don't know if you can really have a box out stats without some kind of tracking how effective are the box outs. It's kind of like individual defensive stats. I have always thought that individual rebounding numbers are overrated. At the least, we should look at reb% rather than counts. Anyway, team rebounding is much more important. If you grab a rebound, you are not only taking the ball away from the opponent but also from your teammates. I would like to see a kind of rebounding +/- stats. It should measure how a team does in rebounding when the player is on the floor.
Ime's Celtics were the top defense in the NBA from the get-go, but it took longer for the offense to get figured out. The amount of times Sengun picks up his dribble and nobody bothers to cut for 5 seconds, wasting at least a third of what's left of the shot clock, until FVV gets the DHO to chuck up a desperation 3 are far too many.
Question: (might need a thread?…) Who does NOT make the all star team as a big in order for Sengun to make it? (Jackson? Sabonis?)
Hard to say because they list Small Forwards in there too. I think he has a good chance to make the Substitute list with so many players with injuries only making All Star by name but opting to sit out. It is easier to make All S Reserve than All NBA right now.
This. People are sleeping on the fact that we are understandably executing the offense very slowly and with lots of uncertainty. It's game 12 of playing organized basketball for the first time in years. All the young guys will get faster and more instinctive on both sides of the ball. Green, Jabari, Landale, Tari and Amen will make strides. Lots to look forward to.
thanks for the info. I would guess the big picture of what the goal is on offense would be on ime, implementing it may be sullivan’s. anyway the twitter account’s claim that Sengun is not getting most touches or gets as much as green is not correct and that is what I see on the court.
Glad that he gets recognition. He's undoubtedly top 3 player in 2021 draft but i would 100% build around Banchero. There's a 25/10/7 player somewhere in Sengun 2-3 times all star but i feel like Banchero is going to be a superstar. Also there's not too many guys look like Banchero that's a bad take. Where are those guys i can't see them can you name any?
