This isn't accurate. The refs are graded by third-party evaluators and the grades play into their job roles, salaries, playoff schedules, etc. They have a financial incentive to perform well. The size and physicality of this league and the rules that prohibit almost any touching from defenders makes it almost impossible to officiate.

Most of us might not find it adequate because they continue to make mistakes, but I think the hard truth is -- this game is difficult to referee. And sometimes you just plane miss things.

Last night there were some really bad missed calls (and a lot of weak calls against us). But we have the benefit of instant replay and we dont always get the camera angle that the ref has.

Nonetheless, I agree, the refs were suspect.

Except the thing is that for a ref 'performing well' is doing what Bossman tells them to do.

I'm a plant on behalf of the Silver Conspiracy. Back in 2005, the decision was made that Silver would one day replace Stern. And Silver decreed that nine years after he ascended, the whole aim and focus on the league office would be to rig everything against the Rockets. Because.... reasons.

Thus, I was hired to join Clutchfans in December of 2005, so that when the plan was ready to be executed 18 years later, I could be here to try and destroy the Rockets fanbase from within.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe Clutchfans after a loss is the appropriate forum for "facts" or "reasoning".

I'd prefer to believe the refs are only operating under the accountability of whoever the ghost of David Stern wants to win any particular game. The particularly nefarious refs also gamble heavily and influence the games to benefit themselves.

Why would you WANT to believe that? At that point, why watch? Who are you rooting for? Athletic Models?

Lol I'm just taking the piss bro

But not going to lie, blaming the ref conspiracy for everything that goes wrong with the Rockets can be pretty cathartic, especially after a loss like that

Oh I know, I was following the logic though. And the refs were atrocious last night.

What's wrong with 54% TS for a 21 yr old perimeter player? It's not amazing but it's not exactly the terribad thing you are making it out to be. If you used the eye test you'd see he also played good defense and has been improving defensively the past few games. His 5/15 night the last game which tanked his TS% he played amazing which you would know if you used the eye test and weren't just box score hunting. Not to mention his vision and passing ability which is improving as well, Udoka has been using him as the backup pg that's how much he won Udoka over.

Again Udoka is playing Green a lot minutes who do you think is the better bball analyst Udoka or you? Udoka can play Holiday, Unc Green, Eason and Tate over Jalen Green if he wanted to.

Just take of the hater glasses and you'll see Green has been doing a good job.

@Bobbythegreat y'all keep saying Green fumbled the ball he got fouled. He also got pushed in the air by Harden and landed on his back the previous possession which obviously will shake him up.

Y'all just need to man up and admit Stone made the right pick when he got Jalen Green over Mobley. Instead of trying to tear Jalen down just to make yourself feel better just move on and support Green because the kid is definitely making strides which Mobley clearly isn't doing.

Why on earth would you waste your time? People like him never, EVER admit wrong, admit to changing their mind, or give on any point. They think it is weakness because they are pathologically insecure.

“Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds” … and no one’s mind is littler than Bobby’s.

What if there were no refs just an AI calling random fouls.

Fans of both sides are still moaning about the same stuff?

    Lol why bring up Mobley?

I'm talking about how Jalen Green might not have a future as a starter because he's still really bad on both sides of the ball on average, why compare him to a guy who was better as a rookie than Jalen is today?

Just watched the highlights and the 4th quarter last minute was maddening. Jabari guides PG to the basket with his arms backwards. 2nd disaster, sound asleep defensively, he let's Zubac go backdoor for a dunk.

Was Tari that bad that he couldn't finish the game? Right now Jabari is playing like Patrick Patterson, a big soft teddy bear

What's wrong with it is that it is really bad.

While his defense is certainly better thus far this season than it was his first 2 seasons, he's still not a good or even solid defender...he's just no longer bottom 5-10 in the entire league.

I know some of you guys have fooled yourself into thinking Jalen Green is a good player, but it's just objectively false. If we look at just his own draft class, Jalen Green has logged the 4th most minutes....but is 21st in win shares, a compilation metric that advantages those who play more minutes because they have more opportunity to compile numbers.

He's right between Day'Ron Sharpe who has logged right about 4000 fewer minutes than Green and Cam Thomas who has logged right about 2700 fewer minutes than Jalen.

Who are the top 3? Obviously Mobley, Barnes, and Wagner. Sengun is 6th, mostly due to logging fewer minutes than the top guys. Neutralize the minutes among those guys and Sengun would be ahead of Wagner despite not being put in a position to succeed by a franchise desperate to push Jalen at all costs.

The defensive improvement from being a complete joke to merely being bad is encouraging, and just like always he'll have one or two random hot games for every 5 or 6 absolutely terrible games....but we haven't seen anything that looks like a "3fd year leap" to overall competence.

Also, just because I rely on metrics as a way to make my takes as unbiased as possible, it doesn't mean that I don't also use the "eye test"....it just means that I check my "eye test" based on what can objectively be measured to make sure that "eye test" is accurate and not just me seeing what I want to see.

If you ever find that your "eye test" tells you something wildly different than what the numbers show, it just means your "eye test" is wrong 99% of the time.
