    Wembanyama is over hyped, seriously.
I would definitely bet my money on Sengun having a better career compared to Wemby.
Wembanyama has yet to be an effective scorer, in fact, he was not even an effective scorer in the french league and he was and still is a very mediocre shooter.

This won’t age well, I’m afraid. Wemby has a trash team and is only 19. I think most expected some flashes of greatness in between a lot of growing pains which is what we are witnessing.

So far Brooks is the DPOY imho anyway. The dude’s impact is insane.

But yeah, Wemby is nowhere near dpoy yet. That said, he might belong on the second or third team as a rookie. I’m confident he will win lots of them once his body and game matures to the NBA level tho.

Don't get me wrong, I am rooting for Wembanyama and I am by no means trying to hate on him.
The thing is though that he has never been a good outside shooter, not even in France with a shorter 3 point line. I think people fail to realize how much harder it is to shoot the ball with very long arms and big hands. The chance of Wemby becoming a great outside shooter is quite small.

Sengun at the same age (in fact, he was 6 months younger) was the MVP of a better league and he was also dominating for his national team. And Wemby's start has not been efficient at all, shooting 16 shots to score 18 points is mediocre at best.

As a hardcore Rockets fan, I hope you turn out to be right. You are right that Wemby is not a great shooter, but he’s good enough. Again he’s only 19. The upside is wild and based on his form and shot mechanics, there’s no reason to believe his shot won’t improve. I’m still high on him and as much as I love Sengun, Id trade him for Wemby in a heartbeat.

Sengun is going to have a great career. Wemby is most likely going to have a better one, barring injuries.

No one is doubting Wemby's Upside and potential the problem is people were overreacting and giving him his flowers right now. Like why is he even in DPOY voting? He is good for a rookie but his team is 3-7 clearly he is not among the best defenders right now.

Also hell no I prefer Sengun over Wemby all day every day. Sengun is the much better player right now and he doesn't have the type of health risk or issues Wemby will have.

Barring injuries lol I mean everyone should see the injuries Wemby will have they just turn a blind eye and then have a surprised Pikachu face when it happens.

This is just for a typical no 1 like say Banchero and not someone hyped as even better than Lebron James.

If you expect someone to be multi generational he should be like Shaq or Tim Duncan as a rookie.

The guy is 19 lol… yeah he has struggled but when he’s been on like he was against Rockets or Suns, he’s been profoundly awesome.

I love Sengun and can see him becoming a super star level player but Wemby has the potential to become a transcendent player.

Lastly, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but come on you don’t have to be a homer.

Well yeah, lots of players look awesome when they are on. Banchero had nights last year when he looked like a top 5 player. That's just par for the course for normal star rookies. Nobody was saying Banchero was a multi generational talent like they're doing with Wemby. I look at his stats I see nothing multi generational. His teams record too seems just as bad as Rockets with Green. Wemby might have multi generational potential, but that's definitely not on display now.

I'll say Wemby can become a transcendant player when he shows he is an all star level player first. Y'all have him flying when he can't even walk yet.

I'm the same with Sengun, Sengunatics were all over Sengun but I only said he can be a super star this year when he showed all star ability. You can't project somebody to be 2 levels higher than he currently is cuz he might not even reach that level above. 3 yrs ago people were calling Mobley Slim Duncan and predicting he will rule the league in a couple of years. What happened now?

With Wemby we don't know if he will reach his potential because he already had foot fractures before he even came to the NBA. It's still a couple of weeks since he debuted will his body hold up after multiple years of NBA wear and tear? We'll see but I'm not optimistic about his longevity.

I am a Wemby fan but his accomplishments at age 19 is not more impressive than Sengun's accomplishments at the same age. Sengun dominated a better league and also dominated the international stage.

Wemby has struggled shooting the ball on a senior level since the get go. Sengun is an offensive genius with so many intangibles to his game and has a way more polished offensive game, even at the age of 19.

The Wemby hype train has been on the overload due to his freakish length.

You are probably right, just hasn't happened yet. Giving him the benefit of doubt.

The idea is that Wemby's only advantage is his height. Match him against another unicorn and he's neutered.

    Haha!
I am watching Spurs vs Kings and Wemby has 6 points in 2 minutes on pure BS plays, this is fun.
And on a miss he grabbed the rebound, dribbled up without looking at anyone else and bricked a 3.

Why don't teams just body him?

For a 19-year-old to be posting a stat line like 18.6/9.3/2.5 with 1 steal and 2.4 blocks is very rare

Yes, the shooting percentages aren't great, but let's not pretend that Wemby hasn't lived up to expectations overall. Don't know if I'd say he's exceeded them (that would be insane given how high they were), but he's right on track to become a superstar.
