my parents had a choice of buying a house in 1996 in either Spring or the Woodlands.

They chose Spring because Woodlands still wasn't built out very much. I will never forgive them.

This is true. You could convert Greenspoint mall into the new practice facility.

This will be ready for the 25-26 season. If they've applied for a re-plat then that should be ready around April or May pending neighborhood approval. Can submit for permit after that which should be another 4-5 months. Construction will be about a year. Baby Ferntits will probably want to have his say in it with disco balls and whatever other dumb Instagram/TikTok **** he wants to throw in there. Thinking Training Camp 2025 for this.

Tilman looking out for the team with that easy access evacuation route via Old Katy Road. Kudos.

Well, if you look later in that thread on HAIF, you'll see the address was changed on the TDLR site from the 1510 West Loop South address to the 7310 Old Katy Road address. Someone spotted the change on May 1. Here's the updated TDLR record : https://www.tdlr.texas.gov/TABS/Projects/TABS2023003908

Interesting enough, the owner is listed as "Hospitality Warehouse, Inc." and their address is listed as 1510 West Loop South. I'm still going to lean towards the 7310 location for now, but if they haven't started building yet, then it's going to take a bit, I guess.

During the press conference when Fertitta was asked about the practice facility, he did allude to permitting being an issue. He also said he was hoping for it to be ready for "next season" which I guess means this season since that comment was in the off-season. So I'm guessing that was his way of saying with the delays, it wouldn't be until the 2024-2025 season at the earliest, and it's looking that way if no construciton has started. Even the start and completion date on the TDLR record is 1/17/23 and 1/17/24.

Thanks for that correction. Yeah, I’m going with the Katy Rd site. Also note that the architect listed specializes on NBA facilities.

fwiw: Hospitality Warehouse is owned by Landry’s and 1510 West Loop South is the address of Landry’s Corporate hdqrs. I believe this plat is just a renovation of something they already own.

So, although I drove past that building on the DC property, if it’s a renovation, maybe I wouldn’t see any evidence of progress on the outside??

Imagine waiting for your metro bus across the street and you hear Jalen Green - Jabari Smith blasting Sam Smith music in Lambos.

After pay and fit, coaching and management probably would matter much more than team plane and practice facilities.

When I first read it on Reddit, I tried to figure out how they'd squeeze a practice facility anywhere in there, so I thought they'd build up and make a second floor or something. Then I saw a chunk of "lawn" there in the front where you could build something, but that looked too small. They also have a big parking lot at that location (on the freeway side), so I thought maybe some of that area would be used. That parking lot looks empty and most of the warehouse/distribution center parking seems to be located by the warehouse building. I think that big parking lot itself only had 1 car on google maps whenever they took the pic, so maybe they say "we don't really need this giant parking lot" (assuming Fertitta owns that)?

I blame the existing practice facility for tonight's 30 point opening-night loss. Hurry up and build that mega facility that will take our worries away, Mr. Fertitta!

Well, I can see construction now. It’s the larger building in the back at the Distribution Center. As West Loop North goes over I-10, I could see a large crew on the roof, and work going on on the ground. I’m surprised no one on twitter has posted anything.

I’ll see if I can get pictures, later.

Looks like the main Distribution Center building is being converted.

@Dr of Dunk the parking lot next to the DC is Metro parking. So, I guess all parking is through the main gate.

Ah, ok. I didn't know that about the parking. Looks like one of my WAGs was correct - it seems like they're building on top of existing buildings or covnerting which would answer the question I had in one of my previous posts of "where the hell are they gonna put it?" If the DC is being entirely converted, I guess they're moving it or something.

So, if true, I'd give u/Peanut_jr on Reddit credit for the news over a year ago. At least that's the first place I saw anyone give an actual address of the future site/building.

this is misleading, they are going to open this to the public and charge membership fees to get back the money. There will be restaurants and shops there.
