Probably just a lack of improvement on offense. Still looks about the same as rookie year in term of offensive creation and shooting
Almost all the bigs with the rings in the last 20 years were good on offense. Brook Lopez, Duncan, Bosh, Gasol, Rasheed Wallace, Davis..maybe Looney and Ben Wallace are the exceptions. A center doesn't have to be good on offense he just needs to protect the rim and be a lob threat thing is a myth.
Let's include the 82 games from last season with the... check notes.... 9 games played this season. Just so you understand my logical consistency. I think Franz Wagner will be a more efficient career scorer than either Green or Barnes. But I guess these 9 games erases that...
Scottie is 21 points, 10 rebounds, 6 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, and 1.6 steals. Please tell me how Jalen is close to that lol
STOP putting Cade in these lists. Sengun is better than Franz, but we can debate that. Look at Cade's advanced stats. Cade SUCKS.
What do you mean the lob threat is A “myth?” It’s a real thing. Having the ability to pass over the defense AND “under” eg bounce pass makes it much more difficult to defend. It doesn’t mean you can’t win without a lob threat. Doesn’t mean a lob threat is going to be an inherently better player. But it is a real thing that is beneficial to an offense. Doesn’t matter if you can’t do anything else well.
Sure, whatever; you said he "can't score at a high level" - i think 20 is a high enough level. it seems to me like the current state of Scottie Barnes, in his 3rd year - even if it's only 9 games in - as more of a primary scoring option, is more predictive of his future contributions going forward in years 4-10, than his rookie season or even 2nd season is, but i could be wrong .
Jalen averaged more than that last year on a losing team. He's now averaging less on a winning team while being one of the most impactful players on both ends of the court. A Scottie swap with Jalen Green makes the Rockets worse. A lot worse. Jalen's ability to destroy guys with his first step opens up a lot of the offense. The Sixers are doing the same thing right now with Tyrese Maxey. Their issue ultimately is that they dont have a 3rd guy like we do with Fred. Franz is the only player I'd say could be ahead of Green right now and that's because of what he could be. Just having a rough stretch right now. Cade's issues are largely professional IMO. Dude is a clown.
Also it shows how people just look at box stats when some posters here brag about Barnes... and defense?!??! Have people seen this dude okay defense? The tired really hard to make Barnes into this 4 way switchable defender who can switch between 5-2 and gets routinely blown by guards and wings. Barnes would of not work well in our switch scheme defense where we don't employ drop coverage much. Just talk to most sane Raptor fans and they will laugh at you if you pull out the "he's a good defender" line describing Scottie.
I think you’re being a homer. Scottie would make us way better. Jalen not even close to his level. Thank god for Sengun
I'm going to say I don't know what Monty Williams is doing. I've not watched much of their games, but it seems like they aren't starting anyone that needs to be guarded with Cade. Are teams playing zone against their starters?
Not even about just 10 games. Jalen was terrible last season. Scottie and Sengun have made huge leaps so far this season
So... we don't want to trade him for the sake of it anymore? (purely teasing here, making it clear given our history )
I would say as of now Barnes and Sengun are 1A/1B (you can decide who is A and who is B). Mobley/Jalen in the 2nd group and Cade/Franz in the 3rd group. Franz has been terrible this year. He is the 4th least efficient player averaging at least 15ppg at 50.6% TS and Cade is 2nd least efficient at 49.2% TS. I would probably have Franz over Cade because not only is Cade inefficient, he is also leading the league in TOs. Again, it's early in the season so players can improve or regress.
