And your point is? Seems you are agreeing with me. Look, it is an unfortunate situation but it is a characteristic of our constitutional republic that a person is innocent until proven guilty. In our system, we believe that it is better that a 100 guilty men go free than one man innocent man be imprisoned. Ultimately, no one knows what happened during these massage sessions other than Watson and the masseuse. However, I think we can surmise three possibilities: - They are telling the truth and Watson is lying - Watson is telling the truth, and the accusers are lying - Both are lying and telling the truth You are probably wondering how is it possible that both could be telling the truth and lying. Simple, and it goes back to my original point: when you are dealing with sexual assault or rape cases, the key issue is consent. So, a person may have consented to a massage but not an intimate one, or a person could have agreed to an intimate massage, but not to a sexual act, or the person could have consented to all of it, but then changed their mind. Question becomes when that happened. It is open to interpretation and is highly subjective. You would also need to know the actual state law, since sexual assault is not a federal offense. I do not practice in Texas so cannot comment on it. In some states, once a person gives consent they cannot take it back once it begins, while some states say that a person can take back consent after the act! (Yes it is as stupid as it sounds). I think to many on this board this is not really about these accusations, but they fact that Watson said he wanted out before all this stuff was publicized, and effectively got what he wanted. Hey, it has and always will be the case that those with gifts or talents in demand and who excel at their fields will get special treatment. That is just life. I would move on and get over it. Root for the Texans, they got 5 draft picks, and have two in the top 15. Casserio will need to earn his paycheck.
Fact:. For every 1,000 rapes 995 perpetrators go unpunished. https://legaljobs.io/blog/sexual-assault-statistics/
Those team do not want a player that doesn't want to be there. The Browns put that money on the table. It was over then. Watson would have told the other team match that offer or I won't waive my NTC. The NTC made it Free Agency. Caserio was handcuffed. What you don't understand, the Re-work by the Browns didn't appear til Friday. They were out, until they were in again. Caserio was not involved once the teams were approved. The Browns offer came out of left field. The Falcons were preparing to trade Ryan, as they though they were the pick.
Free Agency allows him to openly negotiate with any willing team, the NTC does not. The Browns were only a candidate because Caserio allowed them to be. It does not sound like Watson had a list of teams he would only consider. Rather Caserio gave him the list of teams that met his minimum despite those offers not being equal reportedly. IF the 3 NFC teams presented the best offers, those should have been Watson’s list to choose from. If none of those teams acquiesced to his terms, it’s on DW4 to name who he’ll go to. Does he name the Browns? I don’t see why he would without knowing they’d give in, something that he could only *officially* know if given the opportunity. I’ve stated from the start that Caserio took his minimum and walked off which you have agreed with. If you’re cool with that, that’s fine. Personally I’m not.
You are missing the point. Browns did something the other teams didn't do. NO ONE in the NFL thought anyone was going to re-work that contract at this stage and give him an insane amount of guaranteed money. Even Watson dismissed the Browns....until they gave him that money. There was a reason the Falcons were confident. Casserio allowed teams that were willing to give at least 3 - 1st to talk with Watson. There were 4 teams, ideal for a bidding war. Casserio was working, as was everyone else, that everything being equal...Watson would chose based on fit. No one was talking new money among the 3 NFC South teams. The Browns did the ONLY thing that got the back in the game... Caserio was not going to stop the Browns from talking to Watson...why would he? The contract re-work didn't pop-up til Thursday night after they heard Carolina wouldn't re-do the contract. Watson meet with the Browns on Tuesday.
If the Browns wanted to talk to DW4, Caserio should have asked for more from them since other team “reportedly” offered more already. They are in the same conference and didn’t have a Top 10 pick to offer like the two of the NFC teams. The Browns’ price of admission wasn’t and shouldn’t have been the same. Not sure what there is to argue. Caserio got his 3 1’s and walked away, you have said so yourself. Good for you if you are more okay with that.
Shouldn't this have been the end of the thread many hours ago instead of 40 people talking around in circles? see, also: Carlos Correa Done is Done.
I saw the Texans get at least another 1st When someone gets DESPERATE and reach for Malik Willis. Steelers, Panthers, Saints, Seattle? If Davis Mills becomes a top 10-15 QB within 2 years, Caserio will look like a GENIUS.
So much Delusional thinking in the thread. The Texan's return was VERY GOOD in-hindsight. They still have a 1st and a 4th from this trade. It allowed Caserio to very active in the last 2 drafts with trades also. You were never going to get Hershel Walker-type return. However, it was a good enough haul that you got Will Anderson, Tank Dell, Pierce, and other pieces that are helping the turn-around.
