Giddey is very good, but his dribbling ability is a bit strange, isn't it? He leans down too much while dribbling, it's a bit funny
Cool graph but they goofed on the Y axis. Graph making 101 says the first quadrant is always supposed to be where the best players are, he should have flipped it. I think it's counterintuitive that the best players are bottom right instead of top right. Also it's funny how everyone wants to go at Chet, I guess because he's a rookie? He looks to be about as effective as Gobert, except people are afraid to even challenge Gobert.
So, Franz is one year older, does worse at the things he should be better at (assists and scoring points), has a much worse TS%, and yet he's somehow better? Again, if you want to tell people to "relax," perhaps you should back up your points with more than just your vision of a "brilliant" player. It's so funny how people like this can never actually support their points, statistically. I guess it's all about the "vibes."
Also, why are people still gassing up Cade? I thought that was just a thing two years ago. Cade is the "leader" of the second worst NBA team and currently has a sub .5 TS%. Just dreadful. And he's not good on D. Frankly, if he (1) wasn't drafted first overall, and (2) didn't have a decent rookie year, people would be saying he sucks.
Cade's team is dog **** and he still isn't playing at a level where his team is better with him on the court: https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/player/4864/onoff#tab-team_efficiency
I actually think that’s a positive for Alp, they aren’t afraid to attack him and he’s still performing
I seriously have never understood the Cunningham hype. His teams have been consistently awful. He is not a plus defender. And his TS% has always been terrible. People call Green inefficient, but he's consistently had a much better TS% than Cade.
Giddey is struggling a lot this year. He can't get his scoring going at all and defense is non existent
Funny looking is not a bad thing. My girlfriend who used to play pro basketball always laughs at how Sengun runs whenever I show his clips and that is not to discredit him, Sengun has a funny way of running. He drags up his arms like a t-rex, haha. With that said, both Giddey and Sengun are kind of unorthodox in the way they play but they are incredible basketball players.
They play two different positions, comparing stats makes no sense and especially not when it comes to comparing the TS% of a center and a SF. Of course I tell people to relax when you go all nuts for no reason. It's also kind of funny that I am getting a hater label when Sengun is literally my favorite player BY FAR on the Rockets. In fact, Sengun is by far my favorite active basketball player. The Rockets have been the worst team in the league Sengun's first two years in the league. I don't believe one can judge a players greatness based on 9 games of this season. While I do believe Sengun is the most talented of the bunch I am not ready to give him the edge over Wagner or Giddey yet. Cade is up there as well a long with Scottie Barnes. The biggest credit though must be the fact that he is a better player than Mobley for sure.
Very valid considering how great the Rockets were these last 2 seasons. This is the same type of nonsense that people have been using against Sengun, that he got empty stats due to playing on an awful squad.
I seriously have no idea what you're talking about regarding TS%. Below is the list of current TS% leaders in the NBA. It's full of guards and wings. TS% is the most critical offensive stat, regardless of position. By the way, I'm not sure why Sengun isn't appearing but he has a TS% of .625, which would land between Giannis and Paul George.
You are getting worked up for no reason at all. First of all, the Rockets only played 9 games so far. Second, Franz had a better TS% than Sengun their first season, the second season Sengun had a better TS% and so far the Rockets have played 9 games. This is not a normal way of discussing basketball, you are just being bizarre and petty. And for no reason at all, I literally only watched the games these last 2 seasons to see Sengun play and he is by far my second favorite Rocket of all time. I'll take the small difference in TS% and put more value to how Franz Wagner has played and what he accomplished during the World Cup while being injured.
why do you have to attack him like that? That is how he sees his game and according to what I read you are making an unfair comment by saying he has no idea what he is talking about. Once again, gentlemen, people could have different opinion, do not force your ideas onto them. That is how he sees it and you see it differently. He is not stating a fact, nor are you. Just agree to disagree instead of getting into "my ball is bigger than yours" type of comments.
I said the same thing about a year ago, when people were clamoring for a shot-blocking rim protector. I wrote "there's no guarantee of possession after a block, unlike a rebound or a steal" and was almost run out of these forums. Thank you for stating the reality man.
Personally, I don't care about blocks either. To me, rim protection is all about dissuading opponents from taking shots near the rim. Whether that be through smart positioning and challenging, blocking, or sheer size... doesn't matter to me one bit. Yao was a good example of being a decent rim protector despite having no lateral quickness and minimal hops. He did so by being in the right position more often than not and then using his sheer height to dissuade people from challenging. Team defense and defensive schemes also will heavily factor into how effective a big is at rim protection.
It is really this. Rim protection is much more than shot blocking. Sengun is a decent shot blocker, he recovers fast when he is beaten by guards, can make a chase up block, or has good anticipation which he uses to get blocks. Is presence deter opponents from coming there or alter their shots? Not much, and that's why he is not a rim protector. But that's okay!! You can't have it all. He will get stronger, smarter and improve in that area as well. He will be passable for sure. We need a back-up big that can play that role when needed. A similar thing is rebounding. He is not a good rebounder as of now. It will take another post to discuss this, but I think he can improve there much more easily that eventually it shouldn't be a problem at all.
