They are saying the TVA is in the new Dead pool movie and Kang was supposed to be the new Thanos.. so Marvel was def trying to push the marvel story alone before it went up in flames.
Loki stole the show. Kang has been defeated twice now, and with almost no screen time. Although I have come to understand why he is considered powerful, it took two seasons to do it, and they never showed it to me. They told me. I needed more, but now, knowing he is easy to defeat, not sure I want it. But the actor is very good.
It's been like 5 years since Endgame and they're finally starting to rebuild. Only took the Rockets 3. Seemed like the end for Loki, very moved by his ultimate (for now) ascension. The tree, in Norse mythology "Yggdrasil" has always been a very interesting concept to me personally so that was a really cool inclusion here. Loki's journey from misguided, underpowered villain to demigod/semi-hero battling with his own perceptions really got put under the microscope and the character was made to confront himself. I guess Kang depends on Jonathan Major's trial eh? That character and his portrayal are pretty strong but they haven't had the time to build it out. I don't think you can just have him show up, villain about and lose over and over. I don't think that would remain interesting. We've gotten a fair amount of backstory through Antman and Loki though, but isn't Kang's movie still a few years out? I mean they straight up switched Rhodes/WarMachine out and even kind of made a joke about it. The other thing is how often have they cycled through good villains too quickly? Gonna be interesting to see how and if they are able to continue the positive track.
I think they are setting themselves up to pivot from Kang. Supposedly part of it was the poor reception in Quantumania but I have to guess these legal issues dragging on don't help him at all even if he is innocent. It seems they are doing a bunch of major changes to the future projects as well.
Meh, people seem determined to not like movies these days. Quantamania was pretty cool. I think the strain on MCU is #1 they had to do Endgame. The ride had to end. #2 Covid/Writer's strike really putting extra strain on the machine. #3 they've slow-played the multiverse. Maybe it was necessary to step back and rebuild but there being no ties that bind has specifically hurt. In a "universe" where things were so interwoven, now they are trying to plant completely new seeds one after the other with no tie into each other. Kang finally arrives and he's getting worked by old Antman and Loki. Majors in legal trouble is crazy too. I really like how he's handling the character, more than how MCU seems to be handling the character. But you can't act from jail. Assuming he stays out of jail, I think the best move is to have Kang pop up as a recurring villain but never take over a la Thanos. Maybe have a villain stable for once instead of rifling through them one after the other. Find a way to have Kang be a hand for Dr. Doom or something.
now that we have a soft villain being the strongest entity in all the multiverses... what's the point of all the superheroes?
The biggest problem is the new main characters are not that interesting and having to keep up with 10 million minor shows just to know what's going on. That, plus the shows have been all over the place.
they sorta tied in ms marvel and blek marvel from the series to the recent marvels movie. they also tied in scarlet witch to strange doctor. the strange, spidey, and marvel movies can be tied together easily in the next marvel teamup. they haven't figured out how to loop in blek falcon, moon knight, eternals to the avengers. shang chi and thor is kinda just out there too. she/they/them hulk needs to switch to only fans. would.
I dont think there is anything wrong with these "new avengers". I think expectation has run amok. If everyone had self contained stories, and didnt tease for a big event I think more people would be on board. I think End game was such a success because no one knew it was coming in 2008. no one wants to say it, but marvel was throwing **** at the wall and they were all hits. they are doing the same thing they did back in 2008, but now they are failing. If we didnt have the menu, they could have probably course-corrected sooner.
I'm with @DreamShook. I just couldn't care much about the plot or characters. It felt like it didn't really go anywhere, like the ouroboros loop, just going in circles with no direction.
Maybe our expectations were lowered so it's just nice to watch something other than garbage like Secret Invasion and She-Hulk.
A little bit of this. It was around ep 5 where I was like wtf is going on and sped watched important bits from S1 finale onward. The 2nd ep was a red herring/speed bump in the sense that they were all still gonna die regardless of pruning/genociding all the other timelines. But all the mystery bits they dropped early on were followed through in a Back to the Future like way, and the middle eps weren't completely meaningless like most other stream shows in that it served as character development for Loki's final decision. Loki is great if you were vested in it, but it's also convoluted to the point where it's a big imploded mess if you didn't care for details. It was as if a good variant of JJ Abrams with talent made a time mystery and actually had a payoff that worked from beginning to end.
They weren't all hits. The 2nd Avengers, captain marvel and the early Thor movies weren't that great. Maybe good from a box office perspective but they weren't high quality. I would say this Loki S2 was definitely better than those movies. It's just people cherry pick the best movies of those 10 years to compare everything with. The main issue I have with the multiverse saga is they're squeezing so much content out of all these lower tier characters. You have to mix them in. You can't carry a franchise with these guys. I think they're setting up a big payoff for that but I think Disney severely overestimated how invested the audience was into all these sidekicks.
everyone has their own series or movie these days, whether a-list or no-list. good thing hulk incredibly didn't get his own show after the early movie, but tbf we got something better in she-hulk. didn't know i was hungry until i got a taste of her.
Honest trailers dude shat all over the loki season 2 lol felt like i was in the twilight zone. it was boring. so was season 1.
why would multiverse jesus step down from being the most powerful being? it doesn't get any better than this for his character.
