Amen Thompson is the Rockets' REAL franchise player

Kidd on his best teams was not even the best guy, in Dallas he had Dirk, in New Jersey he had Vince.

We can play this game all we want.....I do not see him as a pure PG, I just do not.

Do you see Ben Simmons being a superstar with his elite vision?

There are more examples of bigger playmakers struggling than succeeding for sure.

To be fair, I do not even have Wemby or Chet as sure fire superstars, they are sure fire All Stars in my opinion, they have to earn the status in the Playoffs or put up very big numbers offensively and defensively.

I didn't mention either Amen or Ben Simmons. I've only seen Amen play like four games total, I can't tell if he's a PG or not.

You said you haven't seen anyone be a superstar who is not an elite scorer and shooter. I just brought up an example of someone who had a lot of success in that mold.

 

I was talking Top 5 or Top 6 player as Superstar, but okay I am open for anything I guess.

 

Based on having watched both Amen and Ausar for the last 3 years? Amen is the better passer.

He is probably the most problematic player in NBA history for me when it comes to Hall of Fame consideration.

The bar is really low for the Hall of Fame in the NBA though, and stat aggregators do get in - so I think he gets in.

Players like Vince Carter and Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook don't really belong IMO.

Oh, cool, I've only seen Amen's NBA games. My sense of him from so little court time is that he has PG vision and passing skill, but his handle is too loose for an NBA-level PG. Is that incorrect? I figured we'd get tons of exciting stuff (like what Ausar is doing) plus better passing and a ton of TO for a year or two until he tightens up the handle.

 

Amen said Ausar has never beat him 1v1.

By the standards that have been set in the past, Russ is absolutely a first ballot HoFer. We got dudes like Chris Mullin and Vlade Divac in there. Russ checks off every traditional box except the ring(s), and there are plenty of guys in there who never won a ring.

That said, I agree the bar has been set too low. It is what it is, though.

 

His handle will be good- he will tighten it up - but really he needs to tighten up just about every part of his game.

 

As with any 20 year old outside of LeBron maybe only.
