Coach on the floor, makes very few mistakes. You get the feeling when he’s out there running he show, the team is in very good hands. Yes, there are four other guys making plays out there, but FVV holds it together. He knows how to pick his spots. Time to pass? Check. Time for a big bucket? Check. Time to keep guys accountable? Check. Love what he brings to the team. Leader.

His leadership by example. He pushes these kids to do better, play harder, and hustle on every single play. He encourages and motivates the young guys. As Sengun has said many times, Fred's always in his head. You can tell how much he respects him, and pushes himself, no matter how tired or sore he is to help the team win, because Fred tells him they need him to.

He is a great mentor and team player. He has pushed these kids to be better on defense than Harden ever could or would. The days of ISO are a thing of the past, and I couldn't be happier. I am so glad we didn't sign Harden back on this team.

I wonder which Raptor he clashed with. My suspicion is Scottie Barnes.

Why is it a suspicion, wasn't it already confirmed?

I'm an Arsenal supporter on top of the Rockets and they turned their fortunes around when they got Gabriel Jesus from Man City. He's not the greatest striker in the world but he's really creative, pesky, annoying, and more than anything else, gave them the belief that they could and should win. He refuses to believe that the team can't win. And that's what Fred brings. He just doesn't listen to people or naysayers. He just refuses to go down and refuses to lose. And when you have that guy on your team, everyone else buys in. But you need that guy.

He's a real game manager - we haven't one of those in Houston since CP3 left. They understand spurts and momentum as well as they understand the play by play action. Its like they can zoom out in the middle of the game and feel that they are losing momentum and try to calm the troops, get a good possession, pick up a guy who is struggling, etc. Honestly, despite all his talents, Harden wasn't even very good at that on account of being so damn selfish. These young guys NEED that presence right now and KPJ was as selfish as Harden but with half the game awareness.

I do think many Raptor fans know at least more than we do......I am not saying I believe it 100% but I would lean on them than elsewhere.

Lo behold, FVV plays well without Barnes, and Barnes makes more shots without FVV around.

His unshakable vision. His ability to see the court is pretty much unmatched. Whether it be on offense or defense, he’s seeing more of what’s going on than anyone else. His ability to see driving lanes, passing lanes, clogged lanes… not only does he see it on offense but his vision doesn’t disappear on defense. His ability to see the lane the opposition is going for and disrupting it… it’s a thing of beauty.

He's the leader on the court. Unless there's a clear reason not to, when one of our players grabs a rebound, the first thing he does is look for Fred so he can get him the ball. We haven't had that consistent leadership and buy-in from the others in ages. As was mentioned earlier, since Chris Paul, and I'm loving it. VanVleet is a difference maker.

    Ball Protection.

He is just a good solid combo guard, who protects the ball and hit's some 3s.....I would still like an upgrade there at some point...to someone that does all that and can finish at the rim....

...thats because we are playing a very team centric game right now with Fred. When I think of great teams of the last 15-20 years, they all played that way - GS, Denver, SA - they won A LOT of games and sometimes they relied on their stars to carry them, but they also won a lot of games by just playing as a team - so maybe Duncan put up 17/9/4 but maybe Michael Finley or Roberty Horry also chipped in 20 a piece on that night on high efficiency. Its really hard to guard a team when everyone creates opportunities for each other. The 07/08 Spurs went to the Finals and no one on the team averaged over 20 a game on the season...Udoka was on THAT team.

...so yeah, Barnes is getting his numbers now without FVV - no doubt...but at the cost of what? He may be the next Kawhi but I would argue Kawhi's greatest successes in his career have come when he has played on teams and wasn't "the man". Kawhi hit the shot over Embid but FVV and Siakam were just as huge to their title run in Toronto.

Let me just say....Fred is just one outline of what Tony Parker was or what Curry was or what Jamal Murray is.

He is here what....2-3 years.....that does not generate too much data for me......we are talking championships....

FVV is a 38 FG shooter who cannot get to the rim with ease so he has to shoot 3 point bombs.

Let's just enjoy the ride without overthinking things like the Spurs dynasty, the GS dynasty.....

If he gets through the season without a big injury, then that is good enough for me.

To add to my post.....I think the wing defenders are winning us most of the games......I mean yeah Fred had a couple clutch shots too....but mostly we spank other teams by swarming them with wing defense.

Just like the defensive clutch play by Tate.. then add the 2nd chance pts. (Hustle plays and effort)
