With my new dunkstronaut tattoo, I'm getting all sorts of beaver at the grocery store. So, I'll probably go with beaver for Thanksgiving as well.

Have what you want. Until I learned to properly smoke a turkey, we had all kinds of dishes from shrimp and grits to steaks. Have what you enjoy most.

Going deep fried turkey, I am not a fan of turkey in general but something about a smoked turkey that does it for me, give me the crispy outer edges and I am good to go

    no line.

it comes in a vacuum sealed bag. you just have to warm it up. we make the sides at the house so it's a good hybrid setup.

I have a better appreciation for turkey now that I finally learned how to properly smoke one. I also break down the bird in the parts before cooking, that way I can pull off each piece once it's done and nothing gets a chance to overcook or dry out. I don't get the majestic bird presentation, but I do a good job of slicing everything and making it easy for guests to take a variety and dark and white. At the end of the day regardless of presentation they wont eat it if it doesn't taste good.

But to actually answer your question, we supplement every year with bbq from a joint of choice.

I switched to spatchcocking the turkey a couple of years ago and it made a huge difference in getting an even cook with no dry parts.
