But that’s what was missing last year where this team had KPJ as one of the vets trying to teach rookies and second year players. Would Udoka’s record be that much better if he had the same roster or if he coached those Silas years 20-23 with no vets or former champions? The Rockets success this year may be a culmination of all the pieces coming together (coaching, roster, and maturation of players).

New offense, new coaching staff, new high usage players like FVF... the fact that the Celtics started off slow with Ime too...

I was honestly prepared for something like 2-7 or 1-8 and was thinking "we might hover around .500 only after the all-star break" when they new coaching and habits finally settle in and it would be wndr year when they push for an actual playoff seed.

It's almost at the point where missing the playoffs is going to be a disappointment and I mean playoffs, not play-in.

Maybe they weren’t on their best because the rockets were all in their as* defensively?

I think in at the end they had 3 fastbreak points. But yeah. It was great to see. Nuggets announcers were talking about it a lot - how the Rockets were forcing the Nuggets to play against a set defense.

You can still DEVLOP players regardless of other factors...there was NO DEVELOPMENT....the players have learned more about NBA basketball in 9 games than they did the whole time with Silas. He won 59 games in 3 years and lost 177. It's a good thing WINNING was not the plan because he couldn't win IMO. And, you can win a LOT more if you have coaching...something we have now.

I think NBA.com lists them with 3 fast break points.

I am sunk in like a hungover frat bro in the dorm’s nasty communal bean bag chair. I forgot how fun basketball could be.

And I have confidence that more fun times will await us in the future

Personally preseason I would have been happy with 2 wins till December since every team we played were contenders lol. It's crazy they are crushing it means Rox would be feasting when the schedule softens up.

I'm pretty sure it is done since they used all their capspace already and their future picks go to OKC.

Look at these assholes trying to weasel their way in here. Have been hating us for three long years and now they want to be part of it? Get in the bin

Yeah I was expecting they'd have a slow start with this schedule but would start to click later like in January and makeup for the slow start only to miss the play-in by a few games but with how they are playing now?

I don't know, I feel like you ask me now I think the Rockets look like a 4-5 seed which is crazy to say.

Right, thats the thing, they look like they'll make good work of teams in the middle and bad teams and as such its going to give them a good record.

I guess we will see if its just a home thing here soon but even if it turns out they are just a really good home team that's still good enough to get you in the playoffs.

Coaching matters in all organizations. You had posters saying you could have the best coach and it would not change a thing.
I'm not going to call out these posters . It's not what I do.

    It was Sam Fisher. =)

But seriously, this city deserves the Rockets winning. Everything feels better when the Rockets win. Don't know if it's nostalgia or what.
Still think we're a 6th man away from making another jump.

For sure, but we knew about Sengün.......right now Jabari is still not looking good.

He contributed a lot to the defensive side of things and how to close out games with veterans.

Amen and Whitmore did not play well.

Udoka only develops the player(s) he needs for winning, the others he would put on the bench.

Development comes 2nd now as well......

Which is totally fine for now as long as they are winning.

Lol yeah Sam was just wrong on that take.

    Coaching matters, even in basketball.

My main point is that the Warriors would have never been a dynasty if it were not for Kerr because as Draymond said if it were not for Kerr he'd be out of the league because Mark Jackson thought Draymond could be some kind of 3 and D wingman (lol) but Kerr had the imagination to see Green as a completely different kind of player.

You see it already, Ime saw what Silas didn't in a player like Sengun and it makes all the difference.

To be fair Kevin O'Connor has been more positive about the Rockets young core than other national media analysts.
