ClutchFans Game Thread: Nuggets @ Rockets 11/12/2023

No one said they need Murray to beat the Rockets. Just said this wasn't Denver's A game. And honestly, no one who watched them in the playoffs last year could possibly believe this was Denver at their best.

Player stats of the night

Jalen Green. Only 1-13 but had 8 boards, 5 assists, 1 steal, zero turnovers and was +10 on the floor.

 

@J.R. where is this Zach Lowe article that mentions "A flat out star in Houston"? I hate pay walls.

 

This was nowhere near the Rocket's A game also you do know that? It was an ugly game on the offensive side for the Rockets. We had a starter go 1-13.

 

When I watched the first couple of games, I thought, same old, same old. The new additions of Van Vleet, Brooks, and Jeff Green were nice, but it was only them and Sengun that seemed to know how to play basketball. TBH, it might still be that way, but them, Udoka's coaching, and a handful of moments and improvements from Jalen Green and Smith have been the catalysts of this run lately. The young dudes are still TBD, but they got me watching after years and years.

 

Nothing else to say. Good times. We up BIG all year long.

 

His offensive inconsistency is the last thing I think he really needs to work on. Jalen might always be inconsistent, but there’s a difference between JR Smith inconsistent and AI inconsistent (not that I’m comparing him to either player). The good thing is that Jalen seems to be capable of picking up things very quickly, a clear example would be him making plays out of double teams, or making the right passing read.

He still has some bad habits from last year, like those last two early shot-clock attempts, but these are the kind of late game reps that actually will help him grow and can be learned from.

I’m pretty confident that under Udoka and with actual reliable vets around him he’s going to keep learning good basketball habits just by osmosis. And with good habits will come good results

 

Murray leads the second unit when Joker is on the bench. Rockets bench outscored Nuggets 31-8. I think he would have made a difference.

 

It was almost like we were tanking and Stone was intentionally making the team bad so we can get high picks. Oh wait...
