If it was playing at the dollar theater, I still wouldn’t watch it.

(….yeah, I know…. There are no more dollar theaters, and I’m old)

    (…)

(….and yes, you young little $hits, there used to be dollar theaters, where you could watch not-so-new movies for a buck a ticket)

I saw it today with my 9 year old daughter who really enjoyed it especially Ms. Marvel. She just giggled like crazy every scene she stole.

However my theatre was EMPTY. Like we were only in there on a Saturday with one other family. This movie is going to cause the studio heads to overreact big time unnecessarily.

This is a perfectly decent mcu flick and if it was released pre endgame it would have made 100 mil in the first two days. This issue is timing and the mcu fanbase just not that interested in movies at the moment.

I do think the MCU would be smart to really ride the Ms. Marvel and young avenger train. There’s a scene I won’t spoil with another young star who has only been in one other mcu project and my daughter was also incredibly interested in the pairing and asked me a billion questions. It’s a great reminder that comic media isn’t for us 40 year olds and it usually thrives of the engine of youngsters growing along with the characters over 10 or so years.

Your grandpa wouldn’t watch woke Disney movies
He would watch something that had a plot and good acting

    BLADE

they spent $250 million on this and they still can’t get a script done for Blade
    In 4 years

they might as well get real vampires to be in the movie cause the actors will be too old when they start filming

21.5 mil opening day for a movie with a 220 mil budget is the type of bomb that gets entire studio departments fired

I don’t think the MCU will ever recover back to what it used to be

Disney+ was the death of this thing

Going today at 5. Just bought tickets and there were four other seats total taken. Kind of sad.

Actually I was not a bad movie. It was not GREAT either.
It was seriously along a nice 6~7 out of 10.
I honestly think that it could have been made with about 100 million less dollars.
I don't like the New Nick Fury at all. I prefer him more serious.

Like most people said Kamala stood out as the one most "into it"
It wasn't "Woke" but it was just. . . . ok. . . good matinee

Was a decent flick. It's just that having interim baddies in these filler marvel movies/series just feels so inconsequential. That and the movies are waaaay too cute. Looking forward to Blade for this very reason.

Mid credits scene was more woah than anything in the movie.

I think the answer from a Bob Iger and Feige level executive is simple though… cut the budget in half and come in with tighter scripts and pre development to avoid reshoots which is the reason why the budgets are so big per some reports.

They basically shoot one movie, have a year to work out cgi in post, screen, and then shoot an entirely new movie to make it work/change for continuity with other projects, then last minute cgi touch ups.

That’s an incredibly inefficient way of making movies unless it makes a billion dollars. However these aren’t movies that shouldn’t exist.

They/shareholders expect half billion from these movies so the budget and expectations are google scaled.

Given how the drama for each release is a textbook pattern, they reshoot, rewrite, and crack the whip on cg animators year or years after finishing the primary shoot.

This means nothing is planned and feige is prob brought in for initial and final viewing with notes on how to tie it all together (the five second ad/teaser for next movie)

It's more like an EA model with video game franchises and they've been releasing at leaat one per quarter if not for stikes and covid.

The other issue is D+ shows being cannon and MUST SEE for these movies. It becomes homework or even torture to watch stuff like ms marvel or she hulk when its not even targetted at you. I'm all for experimental shows for specific audiences but that rule is a dick move and it wore out people's goodwill fast.
