I agree, I don't know if that actually happens, but in theory, I agree. In 2023 we should be having a more nuanced discussion than this. A full abortion ban is ridiculous, late-term non health-related abortions (if they happen?) are also ridiculous. The number of people affected by the former is obviously astronomically greater than the latter. Can we get legal abortion by request in the first trimester, with everything after needing some sort of national medical board approval (for health-related situations, perhaps child rape situations)? There has to be a sensible middle ground, tens of millions of women have zero options right now.
Its the binary position people take - All abortions are ok/no abortions are ok. Roe vs Wade was not binary and was as a moderate take as one could get. It was neither pro choice nor was it pro life. There were restriction as there should be. Its so much easier to take a binary position and turn a blind eye to the fringe discussions on the subject.
