Well this quote was before the DV issue, so that changed context quite a bit.....but here is where I am today, since you asked. I was worried about him not being a great shooter, but I believe I underestimated how well he is LEADING the kids, it is hard as it is not apples to apples because IME is the biggest difference. I Like how FVV is managing it, but I wonder what IMe would have done with last year's roster intact. So, I think FVV is still not worth 40m, but he is doing a great job of leading the kids, which is the number 1 thing he was brought here to do, so I like the signing overall - if he starts to shoot better, I will REALLY like the signing. He is not worth 40m to most teams, but we had to spend the money anyway and he is well worth it for us. The next good crop of FA's is 2 years from now when we can let him walk if we want.
Yeah, I get that - and he is helping the kids grow up fast, so that is ok with me.....and he makes 80m so I am sure he is fine with it too. DD
Whatever credit he gets for the positive also comes with the HUGE negative of 3 years of Silas and KPJ. His job is safe for now, but he has a lot to prove still.
Some folks can't see between the lines that tanking was the goal for three years, to accumulate high draft picks and talent for the rebuild. Stone did a fantastic job accumulating top picks and drafting. Now the focus is winning and Stone hired Ime, a potential Coach of the Year candidate if things go well. He also signed the vets who many fans hated but are playing well leading to wins right now. Those picks are also developing and getting results before our eyes. If we make the playoffs this year or during Ime's contract, phase 2 goal is reached and Stone is crushing it as one of the best during this rebuild.
