My feeling is that the FO is split on their choices and havent resolved their differences as of yet. We already know Dana is favoring Espada. Perhaps Baggy is for Ausmus. Crane? Havent heard a thing.
I would love to have a more enjoyable fan experience next year. Put the GM and the MGR on the same page with the same motivations. The Astros have been amazing for the past 7 seasons. Joe Espada has been the #2 guy for the past 6 of those. Usually when a team needs a new manager it's because there needs to be major change in performance, roster, culture, or some other thing I am missing. That's not the case. This era will end too soon as it is. Don't do anything to hasten that. As little change and transition as possible until it is needed because of results.
I also think Crane is probalby trying to think a little outside of the box here . . . if he wanted Espada, he'd be hired. Aussie? No. He's an also ran at this point. I really think that this is a hire for the future, not so much today. We may well end up with Espada; however, Crane seems to like dancing around the edges and finding something unique. I have no idea what that is . . . we did young and analytics, we did old school, not sure what is next . . . but something different, on the edges. Language, Tech, Something?
Load up the candidate interview answers and create an AI Chatbot to manage the team via GPT. Problem solved. #progressive
I do not think it will be either one of them If they wanted Espada he would’ve already been hired in my opinion, unless they are trying to hire someone who is under contract what’s another team right now as a manager and they are not sure they will be able to pull it off It would not surprise me if they hire someone. No one is even talking about right now.
None of the above. I am hoping for a Luhnow clone. I will be delighted if it is somebody I have never heard of.
No to Ausmus. Bad managerial track record, and I don't think his demeanor will mesh well with the current Astros players. I'm cool with giving Espada a shot if there isn't someone else good out there. IIRC, Tigers fans were very displeased with Ausmus during his managerial tenure there, with frequent nonsensical in-game decisions. I like Bagwell, but I don't like the nepotistic influence he has on the Astros. Getting a little whiff of "Easterby" here.
Not Ausmus and I'm glad Ron Washington is off the board, too. Would be fine with Espada. I wish they would've taken a more aggressive stance and at least had an interview with Counsel. Still surprised Walt Weiss isn't in the conversation.
This shouldn't be a question or a competition, Espada is the guy, I don't know what Crane is trippin on with this one, there are no good big names out there and if he forces Dana to hire Buck ****ing Showalter, I'm ****ing out
