The bench really needs a boost. The starters have been doing well for the most part and look better after each game. We really need Amen to be the best player off the bench but these injuries are setting his development back a bit. I thought it would take him 10-20 games to adjust, but it's looking more like it will take half a season till he's highly effective. That's a fair amount of time. Meanwhile, we need an immediate spark off the bench. We have to give the roster a chance first (and Whitmore hasn't really gotten a shot at that yet) but if no one emerges as an offensive anchor for the bench then I'd look into potential signings and trades. I think we would need to bring in a low cost offensive PF. Someone who can put up points playing next to Landale. In-house I would think about a lineup of: Landale Uncle Jeff Tari Whitmore Amen At least they can be an elite defensive second unit, and excellent in transition. I think this line up will need 20+ games to be able to handle scoring in the halfcourt though.
For the time being - with Amen out and Cam headed to the GL I would personally like to see these two mixed lineups a. FVV DB Sengun Tate Bullock/Jeff b. JG Bari Tari Holiday Jock/Jeff
the play at 0:48 is maybe the first play in 3 years where Jalen Green looked like an NBA player on D. Took the effort to evade the Sabonis screen then kept concentration to follow the ball and get the rebound. It’s not that complicated, really, why did we have to endure the disgusting "prima ballerina" act for so long is beyond me. And no, it’s not because of Silas. These are fundamentals that most players would actually perform under Silas, including the mentally impaired KPJ…
It's so refreshing to see a coach not only be able to identify what needs coaching with a player, but get that player to buy into the fix immediately and get instant results. We need to pay Ime whatever he wants, whenever he wants and make him a long term coach a la Pop in San Antonio.
