With concern-trolling wearing thin, basso turns to grammar policing.

As far as the presidency goes, this. The 2024 election is going to be about whether we want a normal government or do we want a criminal and a fascist to dismember the institutions of our liberal democratic republic. Policy toward Israel, abortion, immigration, and everything else is just window-dressing on that question.

I wish the non-Maga Republicans would stop taking themselves out. Probably not the abuse he wants to face, fine, but I'd rather he ran on his principles and let his constituency decide they want maga instead of just bowing out on the assumption that they do. I respect Liz Cheney for running even when she had no chance for that reason.

Says a lot more about the opinion writer than it does anything about Biden or democratic strategy.

Not sure this even fits in this thread. But, I always feel like people misunderstand the intolerance of liberal college students. In my experience (with kids of my own around this age), they have tolerance for one another when their views differ. But, at some point SCWs figured universities were a great platform to glom on to and exploit for their own stature, essentially leveraging the reputations of these institutions and the supposed merit of their student body to make themselves and their positions look more intellectual and dignified. And these kids are smart enough to see that these speakers are not just coming to speak to them, but to use their speech there to take some of the reflected glory of the college for themselves. So, sure, if you ask a question the way Silver does -- essentially, 'would you be willing to allow some outside grifter you vehemently disagree with promote his point of view by implying he has some association with you?' -- yeah, you're going to get a chilly reception. Growing up with the internet, they know a troll when they see one.

Media exposure. The Rs are doing Presidential Primary things. Trump has four plus ongoing trials with daily updates. Trump's tweets will fill in any dead spots in the 24/7 news cycle.

Also, Ted Cruz would be our sitting POTUS if polls 12-18 months before the election were meaningful.

Did you get stars on your elementary school math tests?

It is Presidential primary season before the first primary ... so actually more 10 to 18 months before the election. These polls are worthless. Most people don't track politics that closely until right before the election. People who do are in a very small minority.

That was the point I was making it. @basso knows it, @No Worries knows it, Bob Dole knows it.

    I’m not going to
At the polls are irrelevant they should be worrying to the Biden campaign and anyone who doesn’t want to see Trump back in office. That said they should be taken with a good helping of salt.

While Israel is big news I don’t think they are primary the reason why Biden isn’t doing well. From the NYT’s own polling it’s the economy that is the bigger issue and inflation is still stubbornly with us.

Also I will point out the irony of someone citing an NYT poll for evidence who frequently criticized the NYT as being inaccurate and biased.

I stated they they shouldn’t be ignored but I note a pattern of downplaying the NYT and claiming it is biased and inaccurate when it doesn’t support your views and then citing it when it does. So why should it be considered accurate now just because it supports your view?

Do the polls concern me, yes, but with that said we have a long way to go but sure it does worry me. I think the polls show what a lot of Americans ask themselves, am I better off now then 4 years ago and quite a few don't believe they are. Are costs up on almost everything, yes they are so if you ask that question I would have to say, it costs more money now to live then it did 4 years ago. Is that because who is POTUS right now, yes and no, there are more factors at play then who is in charge at this point.

I hope voters next year weigh facts about where this country is going and not 100% based on what is the cost of bread today. My 401K did awesome when trump was president, was that because of what trump was doing.....hell no, but if I want to be selfish, I can say to myself well if trump is back in office I may benefit more, yea he may give away a few secrets and make deals with putin to give most of Ukraine back to Russia but hey I made an additional 5% on my portfolio.

We have a long way to go, who knows what will happen to trump between now and then but I would not vote for trump if you put a gun to my head, he has shown he cannot be trusted, he is a convicted rapist and has charges against him that make me shudder to think what we don't know or what he would do if he were to step into the oval office again, he would be much smarter about his thievery.

So, am I willing to have trump back......aint no way in hell, but if you were to give me additional choices to choose from, I might look to see what's a better option other than a Biden VS trump showdown. As it stands now, I think Biden has done a good job, is bread more, is the cost of living up, are interests rates to high.....yes to all, but I also know the POTUS can't make everything in our life cheap, there are more factors in play then who's in charge.

If its a trump VS Biden showdown, I will take Joe all day and twice on Sunday...............I will not vote for a traitor to the USA nor will I vote for anyone who backs him

I don't have a "view" (or a side) on polls, but the times is notoriously biased against conservatives. if their polls are showing Biden in trouble in swing states, then, were I Biden, or a Biden supporter, I would be concerned.

Don't care about a poll 12 months out. There are no stakes for poll respondents. I've been guilty of overestimating the American voter more than once, but I still feel like when the election becomes close and real, and people are asked if they want a criminal seditionist or a sane person as president, enough of them will bow to the inevitable logic.

I assume you miss quite a bit based on your posts..............my apologies, he was convicted of SEXUALLY ABUSING AND DEFAMING MS Carroll to the tune of 5 Million which could go up to 10 million. No means No Basso and the good folks in NY found your man guilty.

Sexual abuse or sex abuse, also referred to as molestation, is abusive sexual behavior by one person upon another. It is often perpetrated using force or by taking advantage of another.[1] Molestation often refers to an instance of sexual assault against a small child, whereas sexual abuse is a term used for a persistent pattern of sexual assaults.[2]

The offender is referred to as a sexual abuser or (often pejoratively) molester.[3] The term also covers behavior by an adult or older adolescent towards a child to stimulate any of the involved sexually. The use of a child, or other individuals younger than the age of consent, for sexual stimulation is referred to as child sexual abuse or statutory rape. Live streaming sexual abuse involves trafficking and coerced sexual acts and or rape in real time on webcam.[4][5][6][7]
