He is on shaky ground with DD jinx. The first two preseason games he already looked a little worse than last year. I'm hoping DD latches on to a scrub this time around so our real players have a chance at an NBA career.
You can tell his effort is up lately. Offensive boards and put backs are all about hustle. He's showing signs. Wish the rockets fed him More in the first half when he had it going.
Or maybe he was just inconsistent because all we had on him was his rookie year and the first two games of the season? Maybe he'll take the same jump Sengun took his 2nd year but just maybe we should have waited more than 2 games to bury him???
Im in in in on Jabari. When he shoots the long ball, it looks so good. You can tell he is going to be a good shooter. Plus, you are already saying little bits of him being able to score in other ways, such as put backs, or just spinning out, and rising above for a short jumper. The only thing that I have noticed is that I am a little bit more optimistic now that he could potentially play small forward and have that be his spot. Last year I was 100% on him being a 4/5.
I think I've come around to the belief that Sengun and Jabari have the best shot of becoming our "big 2." I'm not out on Green, but Bari has looked really good, and it would not be difficult at all to build a team around the skillsets of Bari and Sengun.
He has been good. If he accepts his role, he will become a great complementary piece to Alpi. He could even become an all-star one day. Did Horry and Rashard Lewis ever make an all-star game? I think he could end up being a similar contributor to what they were, maybe even better individually, from a stat perspective.
Lewis twice, though you have to hope Smith scores more efficiently than hovering around league average TS% for his career like Rashard.
I'd prefer for him to win as many rings as Horry - in a Rockets jersey - even if he never makes an all-star game .
Jabari was so damn good last night. He was alert, attentive and tough. Absolutely fantastic game. Seeing him come over from the weak side to help almost made me cream Randy Marsh style.
Jabari has had only 6 FT attempts in 6 games. Is he playing softer on offense because he is afraid of fouling out or is he just getting the sophomore treatment from the refs?
On another note, if Smith had stayed in school and was being drafted this year, he'd be #1 in this year's draft. I don't think y'all realize how lucky we are to have such a young talent.
