Alpi makes me so proud every time he plays. Idk when other scouts will learn that these teenagers bodying grown men in Europe are NBA ready. I can't believe he's still getting better. Like it was said earlier, the two man game with Jalen to seal the game... man, that's the stuff I've been dreaming of since we drafted them.
That moment for me was just the cap to finally seeing us win one and actually play like a decent looking team. The possibilities of that pairing are crazy with the chemistry they have. Either man can be the roll man or the ball handler, and if Sengun keeps on developing his 3 which has come on MILES from last season, they could also both roll or fade. Both project to be top tier finishers inside (Green with more athleticism, Sengun with more post finesse and the poster dunks we know and love) if both are also good outside and both can pass to each other, how do you stop that reliably?
Honestly, the only way to stop them is to have crazy length to close out with and clog the paint. If the role players can knock down open 3s, that's basically the Denver formula and they are a fantastic team. 21 yo Murray and Jokic with a 20yo MPJ would not be a serious contender, and neither are we, but you're so right, the glimmer of hope is totally there! I can't wait for the next game, and I haven't felt like that in a while!
Jokic looks like the kind of kids that get bullied in school. But then I remembered that he must be bigger than most kids in school.
And our defense looks really good. We can rebound better, but that is partly schematical. Udoka mentioned that they are trying to get Alperen down low more often after we switch on defense. Once we get those counters down, and once we get Tari Eason back, our rebounding should steadily improve. Curious to see the Rockets 50 games from now.
Proud of the kid. He doesn’t get enough credit for his mental toughness, especially with how he’s gotten treated at times.
Proud of you for saying that. Thank you. (I think that Rockets' post should have said "youngest center", not "youngest player".)
