Thanks, El Salvador. Please add Latin American countries to that list, but that would require a lot more US money. Unfortunately, I think Panama and Colombia, in addition to turning away some, are simultaneously bussing more straight through to avoid the humanitarian issues. I'll find the article.

My bad, it was Panama and Costa Rica. It's tough because they're trying to balance several factors like stopping the smuggling networks, avoiding humanitarian crisis, prevent illegal migration, and not having the financial resources to do all that.

    From the last article:
The move is the latest patchwork solution by governments in Central America that often have appeared more concerned with lessening the impact on their own nations than complying with pressure from the Biden administration to keep migration levels in check.

So even though El Salvador is helping like 1% with that non-Latin America fine, that's like 1% help (a guess) negated by all the other countries looking out for themselves. We need Venezuela to improve dramatically.

Here is a crazy idea........how about our government FINALLY coming together and passing real reform instead of using this as a political issue every few years. Dems and Republicans both b**** and moan yet they never really sit down and try and iron out reform, they both have failed the Amercian People.

We need MORE immigrants not less, we aren't having enough babies, within 20 years our economy will shrink and fast because we won't have enough people to fill the new jobs.

Agree. We had gotten very close to a compromise immigration bill during the Obama Admin, but it fell just short. I don't think there has been any serious attempt since.

    That’s way too crazy..

I get the feeling many politicians don’t want to solve this as it is easier to campaign and fundraise off of it than do anything about it. I’ll point out again that even when Trump was president and Republicans controlled both houses of Congress they didn’t pass a comprehensive immigration / border security bill. They wouldn’t even fund the wall and Trump rejected a proposal from Pelosi for wall funding in exchange for DACA.

politicians will yell about “Invasions!” And pull stunts like flying migrants to blue states but they won’t do anything meaningful to address it.

Isn't this required by law as it was funding approved by Congress specifically for building a wall?

The article suggests otherwise, but lets pretend you are right. What do you think would happen to biden if he didnt spend the money?

I read up on this and was correct in my assumption, so no need to pretend. There was already a lawsuit regarding this spending. The Biden administration originally wanted to spend Wall money on roads and cameras and other DHS stuff that would be Wall adjacent. Petitioners argued that Wall money means Wall. If the Biden admin didn't make the 180 turn, then the lawsuit would be heard by SCOTUS, who would then issue an order to determine whether or not the administration's actions are lawful.

Biden, Trump, Obama, and Bush have all had SCOTUS decisions go against them. And they've all complied. If you're arguing that Biden wouldn't comply, then I just disagree. Sure, from a pure power perspective, the president can choose to not comply with court orders, but that would radically upend a structure with huge consequences on how American government works moving forward.
