In any aspect of your life.

I am currently attempting to learn MS Azure - in a certification type thing

Still learning how to eat and exercise properly. I made some headway but had some set backs
Video Editing is also something of an aside
    lastly
TAXES! Not looking to play anyone to do my simple *ss taxes

I'm learning how to grow old gracefully, but I seem to be failing at the second part.

Trying to learn Microsoft PowerApps. Replacing an old ASP web hosted app. Learned how to migrate a local sql database up to Azure. That was quite a bit of work.

I replaced my wood decking with trex boards. That was a cool learning experience.

Giving serious thought to retiling my master shower. Would be a monumental success if I pulled it off and had no leaks. Nervous about this one, though.

I want to expand my cooking. But I need to do so in a cheap way. I want to try homemade tortillas but don't want to buy any equipment for it. 2024 will be a cash-strapped year in the Haymitch household as the Mrs is quitting her job in December and will be out of work for 15 months.

For that reason, I would also like to find a way to make some extra cash on the side. But I don't think there's anything that will work. I basically have free time from 8:30pm-10:00pm at night (on most nights). Outside of that timeframe, I'm occupied with kids / job / exercising. So what the hell can I do in that time? I thought about being an online math tutor, but I only see jobs posted for people who can do that for at least 20 hours a week. I thought about doing freelance data science-y work that I see posted on gig sites, but there are a billion people in India who are willing to do that work for pennies. So that doesn't seem promising either. What else is there? A grocery shopper for Shipt or something? Doesn't sound great.

So does anyone have a suggestion for something I can learn that maybe I can use to bring in a few extra bucks? These damn kids are expensive!

Haymitch, I would suggest pimp (swing by and check on your stable between 20:30 and 22:00)...

or, maybe medical coding? I think this is something that can be done in "free" time and you can do as much work as you want and do it from home. Not sure how to get into it...but I know this profession is always in need of people to process coding. Just a thought. Pimping might pay more, though.

Earlier this year I invested in a Vending Machine
I got a decent location. The primary problem I have is I have been too nice. . . too mindful of the impoverished area.
I kept my price point at 1$. Come December I will bump it to $1.50
I think that will get me to profitability

I only got the one machine. I dedicate about 1 hour a week to it.
Stocking (purchasing from Sams - I need a better connect) and removing the cash.
(The down side is that it expands to 2~2.5 hours because its 45 minutes from my home)
I am thinking of expanding but need some good locations.

I am also moving to learn the machine and its programing and maintenance

Good thread. At the moment I’ve been trying to learn songs by The Replacements for a musical project. Trying and failing to age gracefully. For me it’s a matter of holding onto what I have physically.

Good to see everyone trying to learn new stuff and new skills. It’s important in life to always be trying to better yourself.

Cardinal sin of running a business: rationalizing what you think other people should pay based on your own opinions. Do the research and let the market decide.

That said, I always like to undercut my competition by a small margin. 40% profit selling 200 units is more profit than their 50% profit selling 100 units.

When you say you are retiling your master shower do you mean also redoing the shower pan? It be very difficult to tear down the walls without damaging the shower pan if its a tile and dry pack shower pan. If its a plastic shower pan then it makes the job a whole lot easier. Either way if you are at that point its probably better to install a new pre fab shower pan anyways and then install your hardy on the walls with a water proofer. You can make your own shower pan out of liner and dry pack but if you have never done it it can get challenging. Lemme know if you have questions...

I’m learning Hebrew this year as a non Jew Christian so that I can understand the Old Testament much better. I thought it was hard when I first started, but the teachers from the Israel Biblical studies made it really easy and enjoyable. I have a way to go before I can become fluent but I will get there.

Still trying to become a real bass player. I wonder if there's a YouTube channel that has some good lessons and/or exercises I could work on? For free, of course....

I'm about to start getting my Scrum Certification for my new position at work. And my PM Certification, which I've been meaning to do for years. Company is paying, so why not?
