    Ok. Care to explain further?

4 games is a small sample to draw conclusions from, no?

Perhaps I misunderstood your point. Brooks has been a very good player in the league for a long time and is in his prime years, so it should not take a long time to see whether he is a good fit in Udoka's system. Which, so far, it seems like he is. Conversely, the young guys are still question marks, so it will take much longer time to see how they grow under Udoka's system.

Brooks has not been a "very good player" or else Memphis would not have let him go.

His reputation was a good defender but taking way more shots than he should. The worry about him, especially when he repeatedly said that he wanted a larger role on offense, was that his value on defense might not be enough for his damage on offense. That's not considering his potential for losing control of his emotions. So far, he's been behaving nicely and has been hitting his shots. But his hot shooting is almost certain unsustainable. But if he is willing to play within himself on offense, he would be a good fit for us.

He became a Persona Non Grata, that is why they kicked him out. Brooks was a borderline All Star when he was a tad younger and he still is not bad.

He is mentally not normal, that is at least why I do not bother.

Teams make mistakes and let very good players go all the time. Looking at Memphis now, it's pretty clear that letting Brooks go was a major mistake.

Character issue is certainly an important factor. Not sure about borderline all star. He has been averaging around 16 ppg, which is a good role player number but nothing stellar. But the scoring is on .51 TS% which is very poor.

He had some good games with Memphis, I am not saying he was among the best of those fringe All Stars but he was a very good player, that is what Borderliner means to me.

He could get to his spots, his game maybe ugly but he consistently scores......

Would still prefer Artest over him but he is in that mold.

It's not like Memphis prematurely gave up on him. They had him for 6 seasons.

pretty sure it has more to do with their best player being out for 20+ games rather than a role player they dumped. not exactly hard to figure out there

It's also not hard to figure out that they are a worse team without Brooks, even considering Ja. They are a way worse defensive team this season, and losing an awful defender in Ja is not what caused that plummet.

Only on this board would people argue that a guy who made the All Defensive team last season is not "very good.'

not really. They have more than enough to make up for missing him. Being out your best player and the best backup pg they had in the league hurts significantly more.

Acting like Brooks is the biggest reason they're struggling is a pure gimmick

They are not worse because of Brooks only, that is only a smaller reason.

They are playing bad, and I always say I am not intrigued by their team, their linebackers and their shotblocker.

Now Derrick Rose also out with injury.

Gasol brothers were the only reason I watched them.

Did I say he was the biggest reason? No. Obviously not. But they are a worse team without him. Period. Arguing otherwise is silly.

I said, "Look at Memphis now. It is clear that letting Brooks go was a mistake." Man, you are deep into your bias if you stretch that to me saying, "Losing Brooks is the biggest reason why Memphis is bad now." Again, learn to read.

Yes. They are a way worse defensive team this year, in large part because they lost an All Defensive player.

    Learn. To. Read.
