One, there’s a random trade thread where this needs to be. Two, Embiid is tough to trade for. He’s not a winner and is always hurt.
I can't remember the last time Embiid was healthy for the playoffs. That's a win now move I'd be fine with making if the team was ready to contend after the trade, but it would only make us a little better, IMO, and sacrifice any future potential growth in Sengun and Green.
The most predictable thing ever is Clutchfans rejecting a purely hypothetical prime MVP that would not be offered in a million years in favor of Summer League Studs
In theory we should do that trade but we are overloaded with the FVV and DB contracts. FVV DB Tari Jabari Embiid Doesn’t look like a winner to me. Still really weak on shooting and Jabari still hasn’t show much. We probably would need to move Amen, Tari and Jabari for better shooting vets.
If we must trade a young guy, Sengun is off limits unless Wemby, Luka, Jokic or Giannis become available. Amen Thompson is off limits as well. Look at what his twin is doing with more playing time. Ausar is a menace and I think Amen will be too Green has had enough time to prove himself. Clock is ticking for him
Some more than others, but potential guys I could see becoming available in the next 12-24 months. In no order… Trae Young(25) Dejounte Murray(27) Zach LaVine(28) DeMar DeRozan(34) Donovan Mitchell(27) Luka Doncic(24) Paul George(33) Kawhi Leonard(32) Karl Anthony Towns(27; 28 in 15 days) Rudy Gobert(31) Joel Embiid(29) Pascal Siakam(29) OG Anunoby(26)
Nobody should be off limits but yeah Sengün only for a legit star type or super star type who is not 30.
I meant off limits as to you can talk about it....there is a lot going on from negotiation table to actually pulling the trigger. You see that the Clippers have been negotiating since early Summer. In this new NBA you are likely not even getting close to the value back so just talk the talk.
I wouldn't do it, not because it's an overpay, but because I don't believe Embiid wants to be here. I think he would give it one shot then immediately request a trade in the offseason, and I doubt we'd get back the same value we paid going by Stone's track record in free agency and trades. We'd be a first round exit in the playoffs then be right back to square one. If somehow Embiid said Houston was on his list of preferred destinations sure. But why would he do that?
