Mike Boone showed me a little somethin somethin yesterday. Kick the tires on Dalvin Cook who was one of the best zone blocking RBs in the NFL when healthy?

I thought he looked good in preseason. He had a couple games averaging over 6 and 7 yds per carry.

This is nothing - I grew up watching Bud Adams' clownshow teams that were a staple on Football Follies. This is nothing more than the growing pains of a team that's starting from rock bottom...again. My 2 cents: They weren't ready to play after the bye week where they had been drinking the koolaid and eating Cal's burgers so they looked at the Panthers' record and took them a little too lightly. DeMeco's comments this morning point to this being the case. It is what is it is and I fully expect the road ahead to be bumpy. When your football operation has been as pathetic and inept as this one has over the past three years, there simply are NO quick fixes.

What do you think Barkley would cost? That’s like getting a rb/wr in one

I'd guess a fair bit more than Dalvin Cook maybe a 2nd rounder plus a late round pick? I LOVE Barkleys pass blocking at RB.

I hope the Buccaneers and their 3.0 per carry average come into reliant and establish the run to the point they run it 30 times. Yeah that won't happen.

Throughout the first four weeks, the Texans' offense averaged 24 points(15th), 368.5 yards per game(10th), and converted 48.4% of their third downs(fourth). But the Texans offense has regressed from Week 5 to Week 8. In the Texans' last three weeks, they're averaging 17.3 points (25th), averaged 279.7 yards(30th) per game, and are converting 36.1% of their third downs(22nd).

And it seems like we've played lesser talent in the past 3 games.

Defense only gave up 2 yards per carry the entire game and on the final possession for CAR when everyone in the world knew they were going to run the ball we decided to play pass and practically served them the game on a platter. That was all on DeMeco. Worst case he gets aggressive and they give up a score and we get the ball back with two minutes or so. It was a brutal way to end the game.

Two games this season where the defense did everything they could (before an opponent last drive to win the game) to allow the Texans to score some damn points but offense failed to put up. Sure, DeMeco needs to plan better on last drives....but the damn offense needs to fcking score when they get the ball...and not run, run, pass, and punt.

I was at the game yesterday and it seems that teams have picked up on something Cj is doing because he has had several batted balls at the line of scrimmage over the last few games including 4 yesterday.
Our receivers were not getting a lot of separation. Cj had to make some really difficult throws.
Cj seems to have hit a bit of a wall- normal I think but he missed a few throws where he didn't set himself
Play calling was horrible. The offense looked very very vanilla
In spite of all this we should've won this game.

Lastly, Tunsil seems worthless. I can't believe that dude makes 20 plus million.

The throw CJ made on the goal line in the tiniest of holes was a thing of beauty. This team is going to be fine but fans need to temper their expectations to a realistic level.

I do NOT want to temper my expectations. I want the Texans to exceed them.

Then prepare to be disappointed. Will the Texans under Demeco be a playoff contender? In my opinion, absolutely. This year? Highly improbable.

Discussion of offensive drives on Reddit

Makes some cogent points. I too was flabbergasted by the refs blowing the whistle for delay of game. Literally was watching 7 other games (at a sports bar) and you could see other teams doing it all game. Heck even the Panthers got away with a play or 2. Definitely reeks of home-cooking (like broccoli).
