Just what they need another OF who mashes LHP and is just OK vs RHP. Gurriel would make the outfield position MORE messed up, not less.
For those interested, I looked it up and it has indeed happened once. The 1987 Twins are the only team to both make it and also win it.
My son and I have been talking about least impressive teams to win a WS. This would rank up there if AZ pulls this off. I don't mean that to diminish the accomplishment in any way. Teams that came to mind from my lifetime were 2006 Cardinals - to me this is the most glaring one by far...83 freaking wins. 2003 Marlins I didn't realize the 87 Twins had a negative run differential. They were a fun team to root for, to be sure.
This series has got my attention. I didn't think I would watch it at all, but it has turned out to be very watchable. The first game went into extra inning after the Backs led throughout. The second game featured a dominant pitching performance and a hitting clinic by Arizona. If they win tonight, they might run the table.
Maybe dumbass Manfred shouldn't have assigned the worst ranked umps to the Texas-Astros series. As much as the nation hates the Astros, they draw audiences and are big money-makers. They're the villains everyone watches to see and hope lose like the Patriots.
People want to see villians and superteams, the Astros being hated and successful is the best thing to happen to recent MLB ratings. Same thing in the NBA, everyone watched the Warriors during the dynasty years, nobody cared who came after.
I for sure didn't watch the finals where Durant warriors ripped lebron apart. I watched the year before tho.
