But he is right in that nobody gives a darn about him outside of Houston and part of Canada. He found his niche which is perfect for him but I think he had greater goals such as becoming a star in this league therefore the antics. Udoka seems to have a grip on him, much more than Jenkins did which bodes well. He is a decent player on both ends though with limitations .....but surely not a star.
Brooks looks really good when he’s shooting 53% from the floor, 54% from 3 and 100% from the line. When he’s shooting 42/34/80, like he has for his career, it won’t be as nice. The big win is as of now is he’s only taking 10 FGA per game(though I hope thats even lower by the end of the season). When his shooting percentages come down(they absolutely will) the less he is shooting, the better.
Who’s to say he won’t improve upon his career percentages? Not saying he’ll maintain a .67 TS%, but he did shoot 60/58/80 during the World Cup.
Improvement is always possible. And sometimes the small sample size result will overcome the larger sample size, but as far as statistical likelihood…we will see. His shooting numbers in the World Cup plus these first 3 games are so far and away better than the hundreds of games he played previously. Hard to believe YET that what we’re seeing is sustainable improvement rather than statistical variance. In my opinion, he likely is who he is as shooter at this point. A season here or there where his shooting pops a little more than normal is certainly possible/probable(even Russ has had a season here or there where his 3 point shooting has popped much higher than his career), but I’d be surprised if from this season until the day he retires that he’s a much better shooter than the 42/34/80 shooter he has shown for his career up to this point.
We'll see. I did watch a lot of Memphis games the last couple of season, and here's one thing I've noticed -- I feel like he's taking better shots here. I think it's possible that Brooks was a guy who felt like he needed to pump up his stats in anticipation of landing his first big contract. Now that he has it, I could see him being happy taking 10 good shots a game rather than 14 - 16 shots that are more forced. That change, alone, could go a long way in explaining the jump in percentages .
Nobody likes looking the fool. I am betting Dillon remembers this. I am also betting he will try to get back at him. Look for it next time we play the Warriors.
It's actually crazy how Brooks has been incredible for us so far through these first three games but he makes one defensive mistake against Curry and the entire world thinks hes a bum
Yeah even a kid like Wemby points and laughs. Folks need to stop acting like playing fantastic and on a bad team is the same thing
I like that he actually tries on defense, 100% you don't get crossed by anyone if you don't play defense. He won't care, he is gonna go out next game and play hard despite what LeBron and the media tell people to think..... If he plays the way he has for the first 3 games I don't mind him being on ESPN every night getting crossed and "clowned"...
Funniest part brad actually thinks players check that and gives a damn when they won and he ended up being viral for the wrong reason lol
