7-6 Texans at the half. The offense hasn’t been very good so far. Adjustments need to be made. Defense is balling but they are letting Bryce Young cook a little. Heat him up in the 2nd half.
Halftime lead is better than a deficit. A quick stop coming out of halftime makes a more probable than not. Defense needs to avoid penalties, and offense needs to sustain drives. Throw deep and hopefully the run game opens up.
With the o line being as healthy as it ever has, Slowik has become more conservative by the game it appears. He was so creative against the Steelers and Jags. This force the run, BOB still play calling is boring and frustrating and not effective at all.
It feels like the only way the playbook opens up is if the Panthers go up more than 7, as long as it is a 'defensive' game we'll continue to just call running plays and play as conservative as possible.
If this is the case it's loser football and disappointing. That's how 0-6 teams get a win against you.
I agree. We really should be pushing the ball down the field and building on the fact the defense has played so well. Not sure why this team is so in love with the run, the RBs are mediocre. That's not going to change. Use the pass to open up the run game, not the other way around. Our playmakers are in the passing game. Lean on it.
Our Rbs are averaging 2.4 yards per carry today. If we were a team who could consistently get 4.5 per carry this wouldn't be such an issue.
They are bad to mediocre, I have no idea why we keep going to this well so much. Not working this year. I know blocking is part of it but also these guys are just slow to the hole, not explosive.
