It's clear to me at least that the trade market for Sengun would be much higher than any other Rocket. Flaws and all, there's arguably only one other basketball player on this planet that can do what he does. Green and Jabari and Amen and Cam and Tari all have good skill sets and I certainly hope they reach their full potential, but they are not NBA outliers like Sengun.
Don't like is a very strong accusation. His fan club is very whiny, emotional & delusional at times. He had 2 good games in which we lost, yet he's proclaimed by far the franchise player. When we win and he doesn't play well it'll be everyone else's fault. Just watch
Literally all of that is not fact. He’s been the best young player for 3 season. Your opinion of what is good and when we win, who’s to praise, is so biased that you can’t be taken seriously
Not sure which idiot you are replying to. You should just probable put them on ignore like me. They will either learn to love our young franchise player, be miserable, or find another team.
Just ignore some posters. I have been following CF since Yao's era. Some posters are more critical of international players than local players. I don't know why but that's the way it is.
International ball is the truth, the NBA is gradually becoming FIBA like.....obviously still milking their star power.
This is where the delusion begins. He's been a low budget Luis Scola without a mid range or 3pt shot or defense. Ppl root for him bc he's Turkish I get it
They did not play good enough to win though, if they did the Rockets would've won. I used to play in drumlines and drum corps, really competitive groups. We got 13th one year in DCI and I can't tell you how many incredibly talented people I was surrounded by, just to get to 13th. We were an insanely good group of musicians. I had a tech one time explain that performing as a group goes beyond individual talent. If there were 15 of us in the drumline, and each one of us only messed up every 15th measure theoretically we played pretty well. Reality is that every single measure had a mistake and the rep was sloppy. Now it's obviously not apples to apples with sports performance, but the idea that it took more than just an individual's talent always stuck with me and I think that idea applies to the situation the Rockets find themselves in. Some guys only mess up every 5th possession, as a group that's every possession. How do they go from here to being able to focus and perform better *as a team* for longer stretches? I do agree the arguing about who is better is a wildly pointless debate. It's really not the flex a lot of people think it is to say someone leads the team but the team lost. Alpe led with 24? We needed 28 for the win. You can't then blame Jabari for missing shots or scoring 13, he's not the leader. That's not what being a leader means. Being a leader, a GOOD leader means you get the blame for the losses and everyone else gets the credit for the wins. "Leaders" who tear everyone around them down and claim the victories are the absolute worst.
More critical? International players here get more unearned favoritism than anybody. Remember Dmo? He's the original Sengun
Learning and haters do not go together for sengun haters. Of course, sengun has tons of legit weaknesses, points of improvement, things he can be criticized for, but the haters cannot even talk about those. Instead they talk about some imaginary weaknesses, or imaginary sofs thinking Sengun is as good as jokic etc. That's their level.
With the type of money he is getting paid, his draft position, and the extensive amount of time the rockets have dedicated to grow him as a leader, it is only natural that you expect him to take full responsibility for the loss as a leader. Or you are just sore that your ''opinions'' (I'll copy below, because the contrast between them and reality is hilarious and your prejudice is pathetic) just suck and you blame the player you don't like no matter what he does. Your standards for Sengun are jokic level offense/ leader with no mistakes at 21 are just laughable. I guess that's what a GOOD hater does. Just Derp's Opinion(Jabari) I think his ultimate form is more than tall Klay Thompson or Rashard Lewis with defense. When he adds 2-3 years of pro training he's going to have a frame that's similar to Giannis but with a wet shot. He's already flashing unstoppable traits with his height and release. Add strength. Add trained footwork and handle. Add him remembering how to shoot (42% from 3 in April, 35% in March) He's going to dominate... both sides of the floor. He's already turning away defenders and swatting dunk attempts. Add strength. Add experience and instinct. Add a team defense mentality that disallows offenses to just pick the next matchup. He and Jalen are going to be part of our championship lore. Am I projecting them to be like Hakeem and Clyde? A 2 way dynamo and a highlight reel 2 guard who won a chip? Yes I am. Just Derp's Opinion(Sengun) Sengun is doing some really, really special things as a 20 year old but the Jokic comparison has worn so thin. He's not even close to that right now. There's not much reason to say you wouldn't see his development through. At the same time, I don't think I would say he's in the "core" or "big 3" or who I would build around until he proves himself as a defender. Without a meaningful development on defense, or a true MVP/Jokic level ascension on offense... I think they just hold on to him as an asset until that hypothetical star-for-trade comes along. I don't think a lot of folks are ready for how quickly he becomes a backup if we land Wembanyama. How he is absolutely going to take a back seat if we land Henderson. Sengun-only-fans are definitely hoping we walk out of the draft with Cam Whitmore or some other 5th pick type, so his biggest in-roster competition is still Kevin Porter Jr.
This is just completely off base. Also, I’m Houston as it gets. I want all our young players to be successful, Alp has undoubtedly been the best
Edwards said Sengun should be the one we build around, instead of force feeding lesser players, maybe that’s why he only averaged 14ts. Good thing Ime isn’t a dumbass which is why he won’t avg 14pts this year right?
Neither Sengun nor DMo fit what you describe. There was a player who got an inexplainable collective CF crush because of his international mystique, but it’s neither of these two. His name was Nachbar.
