After watching the first two games, I am 100% convinced that we need to shoot for Alexandre Sarr. Our frontline is definitely not a strength, actually its flat out WEAK! Whomever you blame Sengun or Jabari, we are continually being out muscled, out rebounded and we are not putting fear into anyone. We need a BEAST! Alexandre Sarr can possibly be that beast that we need; a shot blocking, rim running, 3pt making BEAST! SENGUN has played some of his best basketball that I have seen from him; shot making, rebounding and improved defense but his warths continue to show in late game situations; too short, not quick enough and no rim protection. JABARI! Well he is an enigma, I don’t know what to say at this point. I can understand the struggles but last night was the first time I saw him lose confidence. Wemby took his spirit. One or maybe both has to go. Together they are not a good mix....maybe we need to TANK FOR SARR
Rebounding is not about height. Unless you’re 7 foot 3 with an 8 foot wing span. Other than that, it’s mostly positioning — boxing out — and effort. We didn’t take it to the opponent on a lot of rebounds. We simply turned our bodies but didn’t back up into our opponents. That allowed Wemby to get his lanky ass arms over Jabari without fouling (much). Need seek body contact as soon as the ball goes up.
Sengun has one of his best games as a Rocket 18/13/5/2 but late in the game when we really needed him to protect the rim, that defensive play, where was he? Jabari, well we saw what he did not do. He played well during the summer against lesser competition and smaller players, maybe he needs to get stronger? But these first two games showed he still doesn't have IT!
Nobody is going to trade a center that can block shots, rim protect, quick laterally and shoot from 3pt range. You have to draft them
I believe this kid played against Amen Thompson in The OTE, he is very athletic and great length gave Amen a lot of problems last year. Sengun is a top 10 maybe top 7 center in the nba….he will average 20 points and 11 rebounds a game. He is not a great defender because of his height and not great in late game…make mental mistakes. Tari, needs to start at PF and Jabari should come off the bench as our SF. He is too small and not physical at all. Having Tari and Dillion as our starting WINGS would be Crazyyyyy. Our bench WINGS could be Jeff Green and Jabari…not bad. We need a tough, gritty interior defender who can backup Sengun. I would love to trade for Robert Williams with Portland!!!!! He has played for Ime before and he is the backup center for them now. I would give up Brooklyn FRP, Landale and Tate….not looking for any more young players this year and this draft is not crazy.
Hopefully that BKLN pick is top 4. Unless it knocks us out of the top 4 which would convey our pick to OKC. Picks 2 and 3 overall could signal the beginning of a rebuild.
So let me get this straight: You want to tank again, for a fourth straight year, and hope the new guy we may or may not be able to draft next summer solves all our problems? Got it.
We were dominating the Spurs on the boards for long stretches... When Jabari decides to show up, we have plenty of size.
Just wondering, since the draft picks we tanked for the last three times aren't good and have no trade value, what's your alternative to another season of praying for ping pong balls?
Securing a another top pick is fine (if we can do that, only a 50% chance to keep our pick at best) The question is what do you do with it after you have it, arguably we would have been better off trading all of our top picks for win now pieces prior to the drafts (obviously too early to judge Amen) given all of the players seem less valuable then the picks they were selected with at the time.
