Jabari really needs to go back to learning some fundamentals. All I want him to do first is just box out. How hard is it to just try and put your body on someone so they don't get a free run to the rim for offensive boards. That alone would change our whole teams dynamic.
Bari and Gun are 6’9 tops Rockets measuring dudes on top of phonebooks like we can’t see how short they are on the court.
Well said. The people who say it's all mental with Jabari are so obviously wrong. He lacks fundamentals and he lacks athleticism.
There's gotta be something else going on since his shot looked "ok" in the summer league and pre-season. The blocking out and rebounding issue - even in college he wasn't really known as a rebounder from what I recall, and he really didn't shoot well inside, either, did he? I only knew him as a great shooter and defender. As for boxing out Wemby, good luck. I mean, yeah, it can be done, but he's damn-near half-a-foot taller and probably weighs 220-230 lbs himself (no, I don't trust the NBA's listing of him as 210 lbs). If you don't keep him outside 18 feet and then pester him and hope he doesn't drive by you, you're probably in for a long night. If he gets within 10 feet and they get it to him, it's probably over. I'm just going to wait and see if it's just inconsistency or something. I don't know if Ime will wait as long as I'm willing to do, though.
Yeah I'm with you. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was writing him off. I just mean the Jabari Smith we were sold on pre-draft is a great fit with Sengun. I really do hope he gets there.
He’s a role player. He’s not a do everything carry your team to a championship kinda player. Right now he’s not even a good role player. But, I think he can be a good role player once he and the Rockets figure out what that role is.
There's nothing to figure out. He's there to hit 3's and play defense. He does neither of those things well right now but that's his role.
As I said previously on many occasions, I am not an "ONLY FAN". Fan of this player or that player, Im a Rocket's fan. So, Im not sure who you are alluding to. However, I prefer tall, athletic players who can shoot. That is just me

I never said you are an "ONLY FAN" and i don't think you are an "ONLY FAN" i just think you hate Alperen's archetype and waiting for his failure so desperately. So keep waiting.
I am still really high on Smith, but my observation is that he dominated summer league because he was physically on the same level and he’s just not there yet in the league as a 20 year old. I expect all of these guys to get better as they go but in the course of one of them becoming a quasi-franchise player, we may end up having to get rid of one or two just because of the contract stuff.
I’m still going to take @Clutch take on jabari it’s still very early for him and we just got a top notch HC let him continue to develop
IDK Bari. Never met him. But I have known people in my time that exhibited similar behavior and words. It sounds like to me Bari, in an effort to be as good as possible holds himself to such a high standard, that not only does he seem to beat himself up when he falls short, but punishes himself emotionally. And of course, this definitely can affect ones confidence and self image. Hopefully, he will learn in time that his best game will come when he allows himself to be human. Allows himself to be less than perfect. That holding a whip to himself doesnt bring out the best in him.
Clutch was semi right about Westbrook but Westbrook played well here in spurts. He was replacing a point god. Tall order.
Smith was drafted into a sht position like green. No one to discipline them on fundamentals, no vets to guide them, no offense/defense system whatsoever. What they have was a sht coach who couldn't coach, discipline and had a hard on for cancer locker room players like c. Wood and kpj. The kpj experiment fked over so many of our young prospects, nothing to show for it bc the guy we spent building our offense around is no longer playing ball. Basically starting over from scratch hopefully ime and the vets we signed can speed up the process.
