Because he was and is......it was the off court stuff that killed his career - not on court. But that is old water under the bridge. DD
He was the worst starting point guard in the NBA for two whole seasons. He could have stayed in the league but not in the role that the Rockets (Stone) - and literally only the Rockets - believed he was good at.
Now we finally have the 40 million dollar PG who is averaging 19 points and 8.5 assists to only 3 turnovers with a 55% TS% unlike last year where the literal worst PG in the league gave us 19 points and 6 assists to 3 turnovers and a 56% TS%.
FVV is an actual role model. KPJ is a lesson in what no accountability looks like. Guess who our young players got to learn from when they entered the league?
Ah, so it's not about performance on the court, it's about being a role model off the court. Apparently that's what 40 million dollars gets you.
Yes. The production may be the same but how they got to it is completely different. One got to it on sheer god-given talent, the other through hard work and toughness. The Rockets paid for the latter, in hopes to change the cultureā¦
I think the Rockets took a shot at developing him at PG, while they were tanking - no harm done in taking that shot at all. And yes, his role would have changed, I said the day we got him and Jalen that they were the same type of player and one would eventually be traded...... I believe KPJ is an easy target for frustrated fans to blame for our suckitude, when the real culprit was Stone, KPJ was doing what he was asked to do, by the Org and coach - was he perfect, no - was he out of position, yes.....is any of that his fault? No. So basketball wise I like him, but off the court, not so much. DD
I have seen enough. Cam Whitmore can do everything Jalen Green can do and is taller. Jalen Green doesn't play defense. Big mistake drafting him instead of Mobley. Take the loss, bite the bullet, trade him, move on. Start Cam Whitmore/Amen Thompson.
What I meant and somehow he also avoided confrontation and talking to the younger players there. So the respect faded. If you are not respected enough, you cannot be a role model.
Yeah I agree, however it was kinda weird what happened with the Raptors last year. FVV was a bit caught in between Nurse and some other players
They said he shot too much......and somehow it was his contract year too. That is why I never really saw him as a pure Point guard. Barnes and Gary Trent could all match his production in points.
There's absolutely harm done because he had a huge opportunity cost and also trashed the organization reputation even before having to send him away. Harm was done. No KPJ and things unfold differently personnel wise. Maybe better, maybe worse (though that's hard to imagine worse) - but it wasn't a cost free transaction when the Rockets kept doubling down on him and the rest of the league was dumbfounded
If you think lowly of him then why would Detroit want to trade Asur for Green? The perception you have of Green would nab the Rockets someone like Jordon Poole but we'd have to attach a first rounder with Green. You can't have it both ways.
