He’s not the franchise guy. He has an inconsistent jumpshot form, low bball IQ, no offensive or defensive awareness, no mid range game. Jalen is insanely athletic, he just not very skilled. Rockets need to take a good look at Whitmore at the 2, at some point this season.
I agree, I like that Cam and Amen will have to earn minutes in their rookie year. That’s how it should be instead of handing the starting jobs to rookies. (Jabari and Jalen)
this pisses me off so much, he gets by his man by a country mile sees the help defender coming straight at him. What he could have done. 1. pass it to an open man now that the defense has collapsed 2. Stop for a jumpshot or floater 3. Go straight into his body to draw a foul 4. Try to do an up and under Instead he tries to challenge a guy who has like 5 inches on him and blocks the **** out of him. just unbelievable what goes through his head sometimes
That's his "go-to" move, trying to use his athleticism to dunk over or acrobatic layup through the defender hoping for the ref bail out. When the ref doesn't bail him out, he just gets blocked or turns it over. We've seen it for 2 straight years now and Jalen hasn't done jackshit to add counters to his game.
I bet he watches Kobe or MJ a lot and would love to add their game to his but again... it would require a lot of more strength
How many posters does Jalen have at this point? Alperen Sengun and Cam Whitmore have more that I can remember.
So weird to get pummeled for a take for over a year and suddenly people wake up and go.....huh.....I guess DD was onto something. Unfortunately, in this case - but honestly there is still time but he needs a personal professional coach to fill in the blanks of everything he is missing. He is not a superstar player - he will have games of scoring well, but he isn't that GUY! DD
Honestly atp you gotta be lying to yourself if you think he's a future franchise player. Right now I see best case scenario being Jordan Clarkson or Nick Young. A microwave player off the bench.
I mean you also think KPJ is a good/great player so ... Regardless, all these takes (whether it's for or against Jalen) are meaningless when it's only been one game this season. If he comes out and play well tonight, everyone will be grilling you as well as other people who don't believe Jalen is a good player. What's the point of this back and forth. Why don't we all wait until ASB before we decide if he's good or not.
This is unfair to apply solely to Jalen…but I’d be lying if I told you it isn’t exactly what I think about when we have a thread like this: Also, I promise you I’m rooting for him.
Much better game from him in game 2, ON OFFENSE. Guys, on defense last night, holy lord. Re-watching this game again and JG is 100% the root cause of a ton of the defense breakdowns. Udoka is about to be up in that derrière in the film room. (I hope...)
He should be, but he is not. He doesn't have that fire or game to be the man. That's why you keep vets like laVert so the bottom doesn't completely fall out. He is young and can get buckets until your franchise player develops. Instead you draft kids and expect a kid to coach them. You trade away like a drunken sailor with zero reason, just want to save money for a cheap owner who just likes the idea of being an owner. Say what you want about Jerry Jones or Cuban, but dem gizzers trying to win, not save money Rant over
