I like how you ignored the first half when it was literally a close game - guess what happened that first half? I'll give you a hint - it's the reason why this thread was made.
Thread was posted when we were in the midst of getting the game within 2 during a huge run while playing Senhub.
Dillon and Fred got hot, Landale even made 3s, that is not sustainable. I agree that Sengün should be the one, at least the game does not look that terrible even with losses.
We should be running the offense through whoever is good that night. For some reason it's almost always Sengun who doesn't suck but this team so rtarded they never feed the hot hand nor give him the ball and get out of his way.
I did not watch the game. When I watch the highlights I see Sengun being used much better than last year on offense. Heavily used in pnr with fvv and off ball screens. Posted up and finds open 3s when he is doubled, or finds a cutter. I’d think it is already good and his usage will probably go up. rockets were down 5 when he was subbed out in 3rd quarter, after two turnovers by amen and fvv. And Sengun is -2 in 28 minutes in a game lost by 30 pts, even though green and bari had poor performances. The team would easily be on the plus side when Sengun is on the floor if green and bari had decent games. so the problem is not really Sengun not being used properly in offense. He could be used better and more, which I think will happen throughout the season. But the benefits from there will not change rockets general trajectory. it seems that this team has too few players that can move the ball correctly to set up others. It is basically fvv and Sengun as a secondary one. We desperately need amen and green to improve on that end. As bad as the score is, our starting five had a net rating of 8.1, POSITIVE 8.1, in 14 minutes with a ts% 68.1. This is an incredible improvement over last year. So it is not that bad, and it comes down to how much Sengun, green and bari can improve. Sengun definitely looks most advanced, most promising and having the most all around impact. In that respect, technically I am okay with his usage. Rather the team needs to accept this and it should reflect on the court. It is mostly on Sengun and the coaching to make that happen organically. Sengun should show he is up for the role by taking more initiative and the team should respond in a positive way because that is really what needs to happen.
The net rating is very encouraging considering how poorly Jalen and Jabari played, then again I don’t think we should count on Brooks going 1.000ts% every night. Offensively the starting lineup just looked like everyone was deferring too much, especially in the first half. Fvv wanted to get Jalen off but Jalen was scared to take bad shots and everyone wanted to play team ball like how Ime wants. In the second half Fvv took the reins and looked for his shot more which is why it got back to a 1 point game. Then Amen came in and everything collapsed, that was the main reason we got blown out. So the starting lineup can be a lot better even though the net rating is already decent, meanwhile Amen will get a lot better as well or else we will play Aaron Holiday.
Amen looks like Michael Jackson Jalen talks like Michael Jackson Udoka bangin like Michael Jackson this is a new sign we need to look into.
If you listened to Ime’s post game comments, no way he makes Sengun the focal point on offense unfortunately.
It’s not activating them it’s hampering them because his defender gets to sag off of him. Did you not understand what I’m saying at all?
First of all, a ton of people are directly saying Sengun is equal to Jokic and have been for 2 seasons. Secondly, I did address your post, did you miss that? Sengun doesn’t have the gravity at the top of the key to require defenders to react. You all credit him for the 5 minutes of looking decent but aren’t willing to debit the 20 that looked awful. He’s pump faked his way out of the defenses playing honest. That’s why there is always a second guy helping to contain our drivers. You all need to take those rosy glasses off.
Negative, no one is saying that. The rest of this post seems in direct contrast to NBA player’s assessments of Alperen Sengun. Consider that for a moment.
What did he say? Can you summarize it or just link the clip? I can't find one of him talking about Alperen.
What is this crap? Ofc you're not gonna look as good as you actually are when you're surrounded with s.it. Gold is still gold even if it's covered with sh*t. Is he not allowed to lose his focus, look lost at certain possessions while Amen, Green and Jabari are f.cking us in the ass?
Someone asked why they stopped going to him and he replied with something along the lines of “we needed to pick up tempo to score more” just brushed it off really. Really sounded like he’s not a fan of that playstyle too much.
I think this postgame interview is what he talked about. But I don't see how Udoka's comments can be interpreted as not going to make Sengun the focal point of the offense. "
[ What is this crap? Sengun trying to defend a pick & roll or box out Wendell Clark ? Like i said, good on Sengun for being the only vaguely effective offensive player last night but - like most of the Rockets so called "cornerstone" pieces, hasn't shown much growth in his problem areas - which make it almost impossible to "build around" him.
Sengun is quite obviously to anybody with eyes our best young player yet we continue to treat him as a 4th option. One day he's going to dominate for some other team and the Rockets will look foolish.
