Three years in a row where I'm on record for not liking their top pick when it was made, and after one game all three of the "franchise players" look like total busts. It wasn't long ago when I remembered Jalen Green was still in the G-League, and as far as I saw HE SHOULD STILL BE THERE. Three years of ignoring him regressing at finishing at the rim, regressing on defense, and still unable to take on lead ball hander roles without turning the ball over. I wanted Mobley over this guy three years ago and so did everyone else here with a brain. Good thing Stone was so committed to making KPJ James Harden 2.0 that he chose keeping him over a DPOY finalist in year 2. Jabari can't do anything other than shoot and he still sucks at that, a bad pick at 3rd overall then and looks even worse today. The Rockets got screwed over with 3rd overall, sure, but Paolo had a sub-par game today and still looked ten times better than Smith. This guy was supposed to be good at shooting, and he still can't shoot. Worst of all, it's catch and shoot threes where he struggles the most, limiting his ability to fit into any offense. Amen went from savior of the franchise to 2014 Clint Capela in about 3 months. I thought he'd at least be good at stuff other than shooting, but -34 in 20 minutes of play is some of the worst I've seen from a debut game. Even Jalen and Jabari showed flashes in game 1, this dude, along with his brother, looks like a hype job from playing against high schoolers. Sengun and Eason may be the only serviceable players drafted in the entire rebuild, with the book out on Whitmore. If the Rockets have any ability left in them, they'll make me look like an utter r****d for this tirade. Prove me wrong, Rockets.
Hey man, it was only 5 blocks and 0 steals. And he was 1-7 shooting. And if you believe in +/-, his was -14. So they both suck and should be cut immediately. #FireSilas
They simply can't shoot. They are going to struggle to score all season as a result. I know I was told the shooting problem is overblown and I am looking at it the wrong way ..... but I'm not seeing the ball go in the hoop, how am I looking at the problem wrong?! 40% shooting from the floor and 62.5% from the charity stripe isn't going to win you many games. Throw in losing the rebound battle 56/31 and points in the paint 54/32 and you can expect an ass whoopin.
Lol the Magic won by shooting 27% from 3.....I think toughness is what got them through. That is why the Rockets came close to 1 point differential, they got hot from the 3 while only Cole Anthony was scoring. Dillon got hot to be exact. Franz was taken care of enough.
They had games in the preseason where they shot 29% from 3....so there is nothing truly astounding about this. But I would not have guessed that they would lose the game at everything else. The Magic were more physical, more NBA ready, it was eye opening. Rockets played like little league, kids vs grown ups at times. Rockets bench is not NBA standard. Period.
As unfortunate as that is, Udoka did not get them ready or the players just sucked at getting ready. One of the worst starts turned into one of the worst 1st Games.
