I’ve known a few IDF soldiers including who were special forces through Judo and the ones that I knew were not as gung ho as the posters here. The female former IDF soldier that I knew who served during the first intifada in West Bank would not want to be considered a pin up girl or someone’s militaristic fantasy. If anything she was so haunted by her experience that she didn’t want to go back to Israel.

Israel doesn’t recognize them and it certainly doesn’t recognize their military wing as an actual army.

Further if Israel essentially recognizes this as a war that would mean Oct. 7 wasn’t an act of terrorism but a military mission. It would also mean Israel is in a legal war with Gaza and would also be accountable to International standards. They would be opening themselves up to ICC scrutiny.

This is one reason why the US never ratified the ICC treaty not did they call 911 a war crime.

That is interesting, because Israel does not recognize the Hamas governance of Gaza....

. Actually the USA doesn't recognize Hamas as governing Gaza either.

In fact, Hamas took Gaza by force.

They did get elected initially, then held onto their power. Like the Nazis.

Peter Zeihan predicted this. He said Iran is the only power that knows where the hostages are and will be key to getting our hostages back. He also noted that the IDF would be more than useless at getting our hostages back due to their MO in dealing with hostages as well as their general lack of awareness that this event was even unfolding. I am sure there is a lot of intrigue in the various international palaces between both sworn enemies and allies, and the real truth will not be revealed until we are old and Gray (even older)

    @Nook is this propaganda?

My Old Friend Is Ripping Down Posters of Kidnapped Children
Around the world, young people are tearing down photographs of innocent Israelis abducted by Hamas. One of them is Sarah.

I know this person. I knew her. She was not an antisemite. She was not a sadist. And so, with the splinter of hope I have left, I wrote a long text message to the number I have saved in my phone from so long ago. I asked why she thought, as she wrote on a now-private (or deleted) Instagram post, that these posters are “propaganda.” I told her, calmly, that these are real people and real children. And on the other side of those posters are real mothers and real fathers and real brothers and real sisters who are living in agony waiting for any sign that their loved ones are alive.
    read the whole thing.

Virtue signal to put the posters up, virtue signal to rip the posters down. Everyone gets internet points and wins.

    from the linked article:

Israeli expats worldwide share hostages' photos as part of a global campaign

Anna Tambini, an Israeli residing in San Francisco, gathers volunteers around the world to print and distribute photos of hostages held in Gaza in a worldwide campaign to keep awareness of their plight

Israelis living abroad, with connections in Jewish communities in countries, such as the United States, Chile, France, Sri Lanka, Taiwan,
and New Zealand, have chosen to join the urgent efforts in Israel through a unique initiative. This has given rise to the 'Let the World Know' campaign, a substantial international outreach and awareness program that has already engaged thousands of volunteers from dozens of nations worldwide.

If people started putting up posters of children killed by IDF bombings in Gaza I suspect there would be people ripping those down too.

    same same but different.

People with Pro-Gaza views and often by default anti-Israel views are being systemically doxed on LinkedIn, leading to harassment and even campaigns to draw negative attention to them to their employer to cause them to be "cancelled". Some are of those calls are justified, but it's a dragnet campaign.

I have co-workers whose nephews are fighting in the IDF and would be destroyed to see harm to their loved ones.
I have co-workers who proudly identify as Palestinian and abhor Israel.
I have co-workers who are openly hostile to Palestinians and others who are openly hostile to Israelis, and it is almost entirely due to their religious beliefs and conscious or unconscious hatred of Muslims or Jews.

This topic is extremely polarizing and you cannot predict where someone will fall on the issue.
Israelis are trying to win hearts and minds by highlighting the atrocities committed against them by Hamas.
Palestinians are trying to win hearts and minds by highlighting the atrocities committed against them by the IDF or Settlers.
Both groups see themselves as fighting the good fight. But real people are dying in that good fight.

The leaders of Israel and Palestine need to solve this issue diplomatically, not through more cycles of bloodshed.

btw I am about 2/3 finished with a Peace to End all Peace. Great recommendation!
