This is exacerbated by low turnout in primaries, which means the only voters tend to be the perpetually angry ones and the elimination of earmarks. Yes the latter seemed uncomfortably close to bribed and added pork to the budgets, but the grease from that pork kept the wheels of government moving. Sure we should elect people of character to government vs greedy sociopaths, but what voters should do and what they actually do are two different things.

to the extent that Mike Johnson is another election denier, a Gym Jordan in drags if you will,
this represents a huge victory for the flame-thrower Matt Gaetz

I'm honestly shocked that the republicans were able to elect a speaker with all the democrats unethical delay tactics.

The 20 bat **** crazy Rs are running the show. Any bets that their guy Mike Johnson is not going to have "the single vote to vacate" requirement that the crazies put in for Kevin McCarthy?

The Ds are promising to run Mike Johnson "Poster Child for Full Abortion Ban" ads, in every close congressional district in 2024. Ripping off the Rs Pelosi playbook.

Johnson was a key figure in pushing to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election — and his job new job could give him even more power over Congress’ role in certifying the results of the 2024 contest.

Most immediately he’ll have to find a way to navigate a government funding deadline on Nov. 17 and a push from the White House and many senators to provide military aid to Ukraine and Israel. In his address to the House,
after taking the gavel, Johnson highlighted conservative goals but also the need for some compromise.

Johnson has been more conservative than the man he replaces, former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), particularly on social issues. He’s a vocal critic of abortion and same-sex marriage and spent his earlier legal career arguing against both.

His glasses don't suit his face. He needs something more square and a bit bigger.

"Secret Democrat!" — GOP alarmed that Mike Johnson isn't as racist as they hoped

The Republican party is happy because Mike Johnson is their new leader in the House. Mr. Johnson wants to make abortion, gay relationships, and medical mar1juana illegal. He also intends to bring back prayer in public schools. In short, he wants to make America like a place called the Divine Republic of Gilead, where men are in charge and women spend a lot of time worshipping on their knees.

Sounds different, right? But some Republicans have noticed something surprising about Mr. Johnson. He doesn't seem to think the same way they do about people of different races. When Mr. Johnson saw a video of a man named George Floyd being murdered by a police officer, he said it made him really angry. He said he thought it was wrong and that it was a problem our country needs to fix.

This made Republicans upset. They started wondering if Mr. Johnson might be secretly agreeing with the Democrats, the bad people's political party, because he believes there is racism in America. Matt Walsh, a famous Republican, was really scared by what Mr. Johnson said. He said it sounded like Mr. Johnson was agreeing with what Democrats say about race!

Pedro Gonzalez, who is well-known among Republicans, wasn't happy with Mr. Johnson either. He said: "Sure, the new GOP House speaker has completely internalized left-wing racial libel about white supremacy and privilege. He also supports foreign aid."

Someone even asked if Mr. Johnson might be a secret Democrat!

Did you know Donald Trump, the man with the funny hair who used to be president, once said, "The Republicans like to eat their young?" Right now, the Republicans are licking Mr. Johnson to find out how he tastes.

Democracy in a nutshell. Divide 51/26/13... and conquer until you get the votes.

Just like the general elections where primaries determined the crazy loser candidates and would've normally received a fifth of the popular vote.

That may put him on thin ice, but his belief that the universe is 7,000 years old makes up for it.
