With Abreu's potential suspension, it could've been costly to burn him in game 6 when you never had a late lead. I'm at a loss where he would've pitched in game 7?

Grown ass men. Not as embarrassing as taking your glove to the game though.

I’m pretty sure the Rangers are from Oklahoma and not Texas.

okay we need him back or we need to spam this tweet to the Astros org. Jeff Luhnow saw and knew what was coming last offseason if the Astros remained complacent. Man not even employed by the Astros and still trying to help/encourage. Hire him back

    Anywhere big outs were needed.
Gotta use your closer in at least one of the games

they did not like how much the Astros fanbase had essentially eliminated the growth the rangers saw in the early 2010s and had to do something to win some of the casuals in Texas back. so they achieve having the 4th highest payroll in the majors. they're on the right track in gaining back some casuals with their immediate success this year.

but if they don't win the WS it'll be for nothing. they'll quickly deteriorate with their older roster as the Astros just recharge and have another 2-4 years in the golden era, so long as Altuve, Bregman, and Yordan are still here

Lunhow isn’t going to convince Crane to spend money

To win the WS a team needs at least 1 of these 3 things:

A lineup that runs 8 deep in potential game-changing hitters

A rotation that features 3 intimidating aces

    A shitload of luck

Luhnow is never coming back. Hinch is never coming back (better options anyway). Dana Brown now has a chance to remake the front office and coaching staff the way he wants it. Let's see what he does....

Maybe Diaz too. He would be 3rd on rangers in ops+ and be the youngest player outside of maybe Taveras...

We have more talent than them. It's just producing when it matters and not benching 2 elite bats out of stubbornness.

To pitch to Seager or Carter in the fourth inning. That was probably the highest leverage spot of the game and France should have been pulled.

Obviously the Astros blew a golden opportunity to win another Championship.

Some of it was beyond their control (Garcia/McCullers), and some of it was poor planning (Javier/Valdez/Pressly being exhausted) and some of it was having a manager that did not give a **** what the GM or any of the scouts or smart people in the front office said.

The only real positive is that this will cause the Astros to make changes, and they will bring in a manager that will actually communicate and work with others and not make decisions based on hunches.

Also - yeah, I am sure Crane would rather not spend the money, but the Astros really need another "piece", probably on the pitching end.

Personally - and I have said this before - I believe the key is to stack the line up with as many bats as possible - and the reality is that the Astros did not do that with Maldonado and Pena in the lineup.

This is such an empty complaint. They never had a lead after the second inning of game 6, and they didn't know the status of Abreu for game 7. So burning Pressly in the 9th inning of game 6, when you have >10% of winning and no off-day, would have been full-blown moronic and indefensible.

As for game 7, are you arguing they should've burned their closer in the first inning to stop the bleeding? Or the 4th inning to maintain a two-run deficit and not have him for potentially bigger outs later in the game?...

This really sounds like inventing a reason to be upset.

France should've been pulled, absolutely. But you want to burn Ryan Pressly in the 4th inning of a game 7 to maintain a two-run deficit?...

To associate *this* Astros team with anything from Houston's dubious sports past is remarkably silly. Some of you need some perspective. Have you forgotten how hard it was to *make* the LCS not too long ago?...

Those teams were frauds and pretenders. These Astros are not them. You can be upset and disappointed - but... we've NEVER had a team like this in our lifetimes.
