Nobody should ever believe the words of clowns who support woman beaters. A bunch of pathetic losers with nothing better to do
If the Rockets had really believed KPJ was their best player last season, as DD suggests he was...they really screwed up by getting not one, but two great players for the same position .
I agree with you mostly Nook but we are discovering that genetics has a clear impact on who will escape the cycle. We’re discovering IIRC the number something like 10% escape the cycle. I don’t believe that 90% of people are lazy or don’t want to exit. Sadly they are trying the best with what they’ve learned so far. Their best is just not good enough. Personally I think the Rockets had a small hand in it too. They fancied themselves a bunch of therapists and I called it at the beginning of 2021: Lucas and Silas don’t have what it takes to understand KPJ’s complex situation. If you put a camera on him, I bet 99% of the time he’s fine. That 1% is everything. It can motivate the person or it can make the person feel like they’ve done the work already. If you reward the person with a contract, starting role and leadership while not keeping track of progress, you’ve essentially incentivized them to screw up bigger than ever. That stuff comes after real progress is made. IMO nothing is ever 100% nature or 100% nurture or 100% individualistic effort. It’s always a mix. You can always make progress with the part you control. Most people do NOT solve these issues in their early 20’s - that’s why I’ve always said he’ll stabilize in his mid 20’s if his treatment is working. These things take years of dedication and treatment. If he had a therapist worth a damn Still, I put the incident of beating his gf 100% on him. If the gf is shutting up just to make settlement money, the victim has become the accomplice too. That’s all bad for him, and here’s another prediction: if she got beaten and denies it, she will now be locked in a cycle as well and develop chronic relationship patterns. I’ve seen it a lot. If I’m being honest I have never physically harmed a woman but I was otherwise just like KPJ at his age. Had major issues integrating into any kind of relationship - romantic or work or otherwise. I get what he’s going through. He can’t see what you’re saying - that he’s in control of his destiny now. It’s luckily just one wise friend who helped me differentiate the past from the present and the potential of the future. When I was in it, I had no idea it was relatively easy to fix or that it needed to urgently be fixed. I thought I was mostly a nice guy who got too passionate about things at times. Didn’t realize I was imitating my father who had very intense temper issues. Plus I have a great family who functioned as an amazing support system, like having 7 best friends. Without them, it would have been really bad I think. I don’t think KPJ has that otherwise they would stop him from getting into a relationship with girls and they would tell him he should take at least one year off from basketball because he’s dangerous to people. As a writer I always say: there’s no such thing as evil. The people you think are evil think they’re trying their best with great intentions but their unresolved/unhealed trauma drives them to oppose good things.
Couldn't agree more. It gets tiring after a while. Good riddance to KPJ. I agree on the mental illness front and not treating it either. I think it's just a bad situation all around. I don't really feel sorry for KPJ though, because he is a piece of ****. But if he would just seek some ******* help, I think he'd be a much better person. It's never too late to become a better person. When he figures that out, or IF he figures that out, is anyone's guess.
He desecrated the word Peon, Peon are blue collar workers. He on the other hand was given a lot of talent, he is one of the few that has done nothing with it.
KPJ can beat his man, and then dribbles into 2/3 other defenders with nowhere to go, or for some odd reason pulls it back and takes a contested shot in front of the man he just beat. Low IQ for sure.
Let's let this thread die today - the day before the 1st game of a new season - so get your shots in, and as long as there are not stupid personal attacks - or general dumbassery, I suggest we all move on. DD
I'm ready to move onto the season for sure, and wish that there was some conclusion from the league before the season started, or at least some updates from the prosecution. I still am not at a place where I won't hold this against the front office and ownership though. I'll move on, but I will not forget how they both harbored & enabled a monster, lied to the fans about it, and then took a chicken sh$t approach to it during "media day" and also never ONCE ever put their foot down to give any sort half hearted approach at a moral stance on domestic abuse. NOTHING... nada... pathetic. So the front office, and ownership... yeah they suck, and I think we Houstonians deserve better. However I'll still root for the team because of the players, the city, and the awesome community here. Here's to the new season... hopefully we have a great season despite pathetic ownership and front office leadership.
Yeah, he hasn't said squat, the young lady has spoken but I suspect KPJ himself would only address this once it is through with the courts...and that is still going on. DD
Don't want to defend our FO too much here, because many many mistakes were made, but look at what we did compared to Charlotte. Charlotte gave a template on how not to take a stand while we made it crystal clear that KPJ would never be back on this team. It wasn't perfect, but certainly could have been much worse.
It could always be worse (See Baylor football, Ohio State wrestling, etc. etc.) but that doesn't mean we shouldn't remember this as fans. Especially when the conversation comes around about new ownership, whether or not to keep Stone, etc. etc. As fans we can find some bit of relief if we are fortunate enough to get an upgrade in leadership. I also want to contextualize what it means to be a fan to me as well. Especially in this day and age with above the law billionaires owning these teams. My loyalty isn't to you Tillman Fertitta. Him and the other billionaire a$$hats need to be reminded of that IMO. We are fans DESPITE you, not because you did something amazing like allow your GM to draft the consensus #2 pick in the draft that every other GM would have taken. How he gets that message I don't know, but it would be gratifying to somehow make that message loud and clear.
