So since dusty is technically an affiliate of himself does that mean we also get a new hitting coach and staff? I'll hang up and listen.
Espada can become manager but I wonder if Brown will want to bring in someone he knows instead--Espada has paid his dues and turned down coaching interviews at other places. Snitker is not good at fixing bad tendancies with the hitters. And he if the one who told Pena to change his swing then he should be fired immediately. I'd rather see someone new brought in here. Miller can stay (or go, don't really see coaching on the pitching side as an issue).
It shouldn’t be Espada I don’t think. That’s a lazy hire. Go get some new blood. At least it shouldn’t be handed to him, do a thorough search.
Espada as manager and Maldy retiring and accepting a job as the bench coach wouldn’t shock me…. however- I expect Dana Brown to conduct a pretty thorough interview process. This off-season will be Dana’s opportunity to put his stamp on this team with several FA decisions, a coaching hire, and potential trades.
I get the feeling that there is some bad blood in the front office towards Maldy. I think they say they like him and want him in the organization but I think those same people would throw a party if he left.
Dusty needs to be gone. Love him as a person, but his decision making was questionable at best. Time to move on.
Don't want anything to do with hinch. We had a team good enough to win (obviously) and he still allowed the cheating to happen.
I'm glad Dusty is already thinking retirement. It needs to happen, and it'd be nice if it happened amicably. Despite this season, overall I'd say he's been among the most successful Astros managers ever, even if he was granted an elite roster and still found ways to bungle it more often than we'd like. I appreciate any help (however minor) he's given the Astros in the media to legitimize the franchise after the sign stealing scandal, but he's gotta go, and Brown needs to be able to bring in his own guy.
Brown being new to the organization - and, presumably, handed the keys with Baker gone - it wouldn't shock me if he charted a new path. He comes from a very good organization that I'm sure has potential candidates. It's going to be a fascinating offseason.
