He is a 6'9 C without a plus wingspan. And he shot 44% from the field. OK, you may love his bounce, but I don't see him as an answer. What we don't need is another non-rim protector as 4th string C. All of Sengun, Landale and Green are ahead of him. And Smith would play C before JRE too.... Let's trawl through the scraps to find a long rim protector. Or trade for one. Or draft one next year. Or...
I think we both know the players are just a formality for salary matching purposes and that any value would come from picks attached.
Yep, I see that. My point, and yours also it seems, is the players given up have little to no value. Perhaps even negative value. So, does the question become, what player can we get for (2) 1sts and a swap? Or some other combination of 1sts and swaps? Does it boil down to, how good/bad will Brooklyn be this year? Next? And so on?
I’m assuming OKC has seen a lot more of him than the rockets have, and the fact that he was salary matching fodder in a KPJ trade tells me cutting him or keeping him over Boban is of little consequence.
It's tough not to get excited about adding a young successful college player that you think might just need a change of scenery in order to shine. Morey was no exception earlier in his career. Remember when he went and started collecting all the top class members of the 2009 NBA Draft? He signed or traded for: #2 Hasheem Thabeet (2010-2011) #6 Jonny Flynn (2011-2012) #8 Jordan Hill (2009-2010) #11 Terrence Williams (2011-2012) before finally hitting the jackpot on #3 James Harden (2012-2013) He also signed. . . . #18 Ty Lawson (2015-2016) #23 Omri Casspi (2013-2014) #26 DeMarre Carroll (2010-2011) #42 Patrick Beverley (2012-2013) Everyone here got excited about all those signings outside of maybe Beverley until he was proven and nearly all of them were a bust. Teams usually figure out pretty quickly what they've got and then move on.
Yeah, the 2009 Draft...... I think that was the worst luck that a lot of them just faded out of the league and not even become a regular role player.
