You know what also makes it cost more? The fact that half of more of the assholes on your chosen side in Congress want Russia to win and are actively working for that outcome
You literally don't understand what President Eisenhower believed in, what he stood for, and what he warned us against. I saw him give that speech on television. Ike would do the same thing President Biden is attempting to do today. Defeat Putin and what he represents. Ike was for a strong, powerful United States. Do you know why he had the Interstate Highway system built? He saw the Autobahn highway system Hitler had built in Germany, and how effective it was in moving critical military and other supplies around Germany during World War 2. It gave him the idea to build something similar, except on an even more massive scale, in our own country. Yes, he warned us about the "military-industrial complex," but he was warning us against giving them too much power, including preventing them from having too much political power. Our Supreme Court under Chief Justice Roberts has been doing the opposite of what Eisenhower wanted our country to prevent. The Roberts Court has given huge businesses and corporations massive political power.
This the military industrial complex and Russia invading Ukraine gave a great opportunity to exercise that complex. If Russia withdrew from Ukraine then we could stand down from that.
Does this make @Commodore an Eisenhower Republican? Or just another partisan hack throwing **** against the wall to see what sticks? Majority of military weapons spending is for next-gen weapons. Majority of military weapons sent to Ukraine is obsolete, last-gen weapons, that were scheduled to be decommissioned. We think so little of Ukraine that we are sending them our trash. Shouldn't that make you happy?
"Funding wars is good for our economy" Reminds me of Paul Krugman saying an alien invasion would have a positive economic impact.
And if Russia just withdrew we wouldn't be sending so many weapons to Ukraine. This is more of just blaming the US for a situation that Russia created.
I don't think folks in this thread have mentally accepted that if trump wins Zelensky will be dead in weeks and Ukraine won't exist no more
I don't think alot of folks have accepted what a 2nd trump term would look like. I don't think the nation could survive as a whole. I mean it. Trump never had a 6-3 republican Supreme Court. Most of the decisions he lost happened on 5-4. He'll have nothing holding him back to destroying America
Maybe it's just a figure of speech or a rhetorical device, but you presume on what other people think an awful lot. I guess it's fair to say 74 million people in 2020 didn't realize a second term for Trump would be a disaster for the country, because they voted for him. But probably most of Biden's 81 million voters did realize.
I just don't understand why anyone would vote for a dictator who doesn't believe in the law. You have folks like @basso who claim to care about Ukraine and will post about Ukraine every day but then vote for the guy who will throw ukraine to putin within hours. White supremacy is bad
Congress passed a law requiring the Senate to approve any such action if my memory is correct. He couldn't do it even if he wanted to.
The president has sole authority to move troops around nd military equipment. He couldn't "pull out" of nato but he would redeploy all the troops and weapons systems so it makes the alliance useless
