You’re the only one assuming that’s not the case. You are obviously angry KPJ and Silas are gone. It’s ok bud, times have changed for the better
I'm ecstatic we have Ime. He's going to hold everybody accountable which means you guys will flip on him when he starts benching Sengun for not defending. I give you no longer than mid-season
He’s literally been one of the better defenders in the preseason and Ime calls him one of the quarterbacks of the offense. It’s more likely that Ime recognizes real talent. Unlike Silas with KPJ
Last two seasons whenever Sengun blocked a layup the ball ended up in a cutting opponent's hands; his teammates just stood around watching the action. This year, no more.
You’ve been wrong about him so far. You’ll continue to be wrong about him. No one is shifting blame. You’re putting blame on the wrong people, like blaming Sengun for others bad defense
First; this is the preseason and Sengun’s struggles are not uncommon for players of ANY year but particularly guys in their first few years. Sengun had dominant games last season against “real competition” there is no reason to believe he can’t get back to that. Making definitive judgements about ANYTHING or ANYONE in the preseason is rather useless. People are just looking to confirm their previously conceived notions about players, coaches, team. but seriously, why do you seem to be going out of your way to trash Sengun? Because he has fanatics praising him? We are all fanatics. Fandom is built on optimism and hope. You should WANT Sengun and every other player on our roster to become a “franchise guy.”
I am not sure which one of the idiots I have on ignore you are arguing with but I agree with everything you are saying.
I don't trash anyone. But I've seen Sengun fanatics trash players, even calling the previous coach a racist because he benched Sengun. They hold other players to ridiculous standards while making excuses for Sengun blaming everyone else. Someone has to speak up and that's me
Not surprised that low iq posters hate the high iq player. It is only a very good sign that the only thrashing the dedicated haters can do is about the future: Sengun will be a liability in the playoffs Sengun will be in foul trouble in game 7 of the finals oh, I just remembered the thread about how udoka knows Sengun will be a major problem in defense. all on my ignore list and I suggest everyone to do the same. It is also pathetic that they can thrash after relatively poor games because they don’t have the capacity to get into any real basketball talk.
If you’re responding to me you’ve missed the point. I’m not against flash. You can have both flair and substance in the same player. We just don’t know for any of our players, yet. I’ve been saying that this board has been getting overexcited about flashes for three years now, but we have no idea if there is any substance behind these flashes, because the whole organization has been complete anti-basketball garbage. It all started with KPJ in the Spring of 2021. People should go back and look how much buzz there was about him back then. Then same with Green and Sengun. Fact is, we have no idea yet how they will fare in a serious basketball environment. To be seen.
I wasn't particularly responding to you. I have seen multiple times the word 'flashy' used in a negative context (even by Silas maybe) for Sengun's passes. I pointed out that that is a wrong way of putting things, because he doesn't do the flashy pass to be flashy, it is mostly functional. As to your point, it is yet to be seen how they will fare in a serious basketball environment, that I agree, but we are not totally clueless. KPJ, when he makes one shot, he thinks he earned the right to shoot 3 more regardless of whether they are good shots or not. He also quits playing when things do not go his way, or when he doesn't get a pass or a call. Pretends to get injured after a miss shot, or a turnover. When in a serious situation, at the end of games, goes for hero ball. Practically has all the indications in the world that he won't do well in a serious basketball environment. We are not even digging into his off-court behaviorial issues. On the other hand, Sengun shares the ball, makes the correct play most of the time, willing to improve on defense, has good decision making most of the time. You can think about his lack of self-discipline at times as a negative indicator but considering his age, it is not the end of the world. So Sengun, and similarly Green, are not in the same stratosphere with KPJ in terms of chances of doing well in a serious basketball environment.
