Playing Maldy 115 games over a historic ROY is one of the dumbest decisions in MLB history. You're slide-stepping my point though... switch the jerseys and everyone would be arguing it was intentional. Remove the bias.
That's why I included if reversed to the Rangers I would give them credit for not being dumb enough to do that. Why would any team purposely put themselves in a tougher spot to win a close and late playoff game. Abreu walked the first batter and that wasn't on purpose either. He didn't have great control yesterday.
The fact that anyone could think that the Astros (who have been nothing but cool, calm , and collected across this entire run) would INTENTIONALLY put 2 on with no outs in the 8th inning of Game 5 of the ALCS is ridiculous to me. And even further, when you look at the individual reactions of all the players and coaches, unless these guys are Emmy award winners, there's no way you can fabricate the sheer confusion and surprise on their faces. And on top of all that, it was obvious they wanted to pitch Adolis high and inside since that's a cold zone for him. Don't overcomplicate something when the simpler answer is right there.
Un****ing believable literally no one gives a **** if someone celebrates a home run. Not to mention doing so intentionally would be an incredibly stupid baseball play. For the league to remove one of the great players in the series is absolutely uncalled for. Catering to a city and team of whiny, b****ing, chokers is as low as it goes.
Abreu got cheated on two calls vs Carter, including the ball 4 that was really strike 3. He had great control yesterday. Then... Garcia gets nailed with a fastball on the first pitch of his first AB after the big showboat. Abreu is good enough to overcome 2 on, no outs. Switch the jerseys and I wouldn't be surprised if an Astro got hit too. Granted, it's not the best situation to retaliate, but to be surprised?.. to act like it's the dumbest thing ever?.. Nope, not even close.
Baker being a long time manager was likely aware that there could be a suspension. That makes it even less Likely he had Abreu deliberately hit Garcia
What's the word on him pushing the suspension all the way into 2024? Is this suspension going to be served in the WS if we make it?
Appeals are heard within 48 hours. If he appeals, he’ll miss a potential game 7 or the first 2 games of that World Series.
What's changed? Beyond MLB (assholes that they are) unfortunately agreeing AND doling out the suspension.
