The whole Sengun is the franchise player notion is idiotic in itself. Blaming others for Sengun's liabilities is even worse
Felt he was worn down a little too rapidly, having to play a bigger role on Defense, he just seems to fumble around on Offense.
yes, absolutely. Many players look terrific in Flash&Trash situations where you don’t really play serious basketball but just show-off skillz… The transition to serious basketball will show who is for real and who is not… Remember 2021KPJ, he of 52pts/10 asst? How excited this forum was? That was pure flash&trash player. He did try to be more serious after that, lead the team as PG, play defense, he did try that. And it turned out he’s just mediocre when he tries. Lamelo Ball is another typical flash&trash player, still haven’t seen him play serious basketball. We’ll find out about Sengun and Green a lot more this year than the previous two. Can they handle playing for a serious team trying to win and still produce offense?
Sengun can play serious basketball. That's how he won his MVP trophy in the Turkish league. He was 18.
I'm not sure what this even means or if it's just something you apply after the fact to a player who puts up numbers on a bad team. Like, KPJ was never that good (one great performance does not a good player make), but people were saying this kind of stuff about, for example, Steph Curry during the Mark Jackson era before they started winning. Not that LaMelo Ball or Jalen Green will be Curry level players, can't predict that kind of success unless/until it happens. But this just seems like a weird narrative thing that people apply afterwards more than anything you can use to make any kind of valuable predictions about a player
I guess you are not a winner until you are a winner. LOL. I remember people used to say KG wasn't a winner in Minnesota. Then he won with a stacked team in Boston and that label went away. The fact is, KG wasn't a "not-winning" player. He's just not great enough to carry a mediocre team to win it all. Very few players can do that If Alpi and/or Jabari can get to KG level, I'll be very pleased.
Yeah but if you compare them, Dirk was on a less stacked team and won it all, and coming out of the West, against the Heatles. Personally I feel KG was more capable than Dirk but Dirk's shooting was unparalleled for a big man. Funny that a few specialists have won it all .....Dirk or Steph. Ray Ray.
Flash&trash players, seriously? Messi is one of the best soccer players, if not the best, and he did a lot of fun *****. KPJ was one of the best catch-and-shoot players, and he was in the 90+ percent tile last year if my memory serves me right. This is trash? The Rockets didn't use KPJ correctly and that was not KPJ's fault but Stone and Silas. Lamelo Ball is a trash player? Are you insane? Half of the NBA teams would love to have Lamelo as their main ballhandler if he's healthy. What do you mean by serious basketball? Do you mean winning basketball? If you think those behind-the-back passes are not serious passes, you just haven't watched enough basketball. Steph, Luka, Klay, Jokic, and a lot more top players make those passes occasionally, are they not serious? Your correct statement should be, can Green and Sengun play winning basketball? Instead of making up those nonsense terms and supporting them with some questionable examples.
If you had to make a prediction of the NBA player with the worst +/- in NBA history over their first two seasons, who wouldn't be? A lot of your takes are boomer head narrative takes that are basically generic platitudes https://cleaningtheglass.com/stats/player/4747/onoff#tab-team_efficiency The offensive of the Hrients falls apart into the gutter when LaMelo isn't on the court. You simply don't understand that you g 19-21 year olds with high end talent often fall into bad teams their first couple of years. Nothing about your takes involve actual on court actions. It's just generic platitudes.
KG level? Garnett is a top 10 all time player. Odds of any of our young guys becoming top 10 all time is basically zero
KPJ was Flash&Trash in 2021, that’s what I said. C&S he may have been in th 90%, but overall performance was at or slightly below average. Flash&Trash is different than Trash. Lamelo is not Trash, he’s Flash&Trash. The Flash part is what got him a MAX contract. The Trash part, the recklessness, lack of defense, lack of game awareness is what prevents Charlotte from being a winning program. Jokic has no Trash in him. He’s all Flash&Win
Good. Now he needs to do it in the NBA. Last couple of years were trash, the whole organization was trash, non-conducive to serious basketball. We’ll learn more about him and about Green this year than the last couple of years
Dude, if either player turned into another KG, I'd be ecstatic. I'd j*zz. TMI? But seriously, I would. Are you selling KG short? I saw his Twolves play the Rockets at the Summit with my mom and girlfriend, and even they, basketball novices at best, were asking me about KG, "Who is that guy? He's directing the whole team."
"people" say all kinds of things, but there are objective observations on who plays serious basketball and who doesn’t: attention on D, situational awareness, the right play on O… I mean, some people may say whatever, but if you know basketball you’d never call SGA or Halliburton non-serious players, and what have they won? Nothing!! Winning is the ultimate proof-in-the-pudding, yes, but if you know basketball you don’t need W% to evaluate how serious a player is..
I don't see Garnett on a lot of top 10 all time lists. Top 50 maybe. He didn't win a lot of titles and his individual stats aren't otherworldly great like some of the consensus top 10 guys.
KG led his Wolves team out of the first round only once for more than a decade. That's why he was labeled as not a winning player until he won a chip with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.
