Also this is a poor reflection on MLB if these umps made the ALCS. It's sad if this is the best they have to offer.
This and it forces our batters to swing at those balls because they're going to call them strikes either way. Fire them all. They'll just get more post season games next year.
If we don’t get this one that’ll suck but small mission accomplished to go up and get 2 of 3 and force it to six which a lot thought we couldn’t do. I’m betting and hoping that our experience pulls us through and we pick ourselves up at home.
You can't put it all on the ump, but it's completely inexcusable to me that in a game this big, we can't have a system that allows us to accurately call balls and strikes in 2023. So many horrible calls on both sides, but there have been some really awful calls go against the Astros in really key situations tonight. We need an electronic strike zone. This is killing the sport.
It isn't the best they have to offer. They know the ump rankings before they assign them. Not sure exactly how that all works but they knew they weren't putting their best out there

Brantley batting there was one round of the batting order too late. And not having Diaz catch here (so he feels comfortable in the game before he pinch hits for Maldy) is not the way I would have done it. So many missed opportunities this game and I'm ashamed to say that I don't like the bottom of our order coming up in the 9th. Hopefully Altuve can put on a show.
