I think I agree with you in principle, but saying "minimize" means that a proper calibration exists. Who sets that calibration? When does a poster meet your threshold and when do they not? But yes, the phenomenon of psychic numbing (worth looking up) exists. As soon as more than 3 or 4 strangers have died in some event, human beings (all of us, in our brain wiring) become less interested than we would be in the story of just one or two people. How do we get an audience to take 1400 Israeli deaths and 5000 Palestinian deaths seriously? How does any one of us grapple with that number at all? I don't have an answer. I shared one long article about one family that was butchered b/c it helped me understand the loss at a gut level, and I will be reading other such (long form) articles. Not tweets and video clips.
Unfortunately, they represent a significant percentage of Muslims around the world. Maybe slightly different in the US, but in the Middle East and in Europe, this is the Muslim mainstream.
AR fyoy asking a Palestinian living in the West Bank to have rational thoughts towards a CNN reporter? They think cnn is an army of American propaganda. Why wouldn't they? I am not common to comment on Israeli citizens living in Israel saying irrational things to media because I don't think it's fair for me in my position to tell an Israeli civilian to be rational in their current thoughts.
Palestinians dislike Israel much more than they dislike Hamas. This is similar to inner city gang-infest neighborhoods. They trust the police less than the gangs
Being able to coherently explain your position is more important than virtual signaling and screaming profanities at reporters who can shape narratives. Deranged behavior
I love when reps like Omar take a pro hamas position and spread disinformation then cry to reporters when they get harassed. Next time just don't spew pro terrorism propoganda,
This pro-hamas position? "I condemn the horrific acts we are seeing unfold today in Israel against children, women, the elderly, and the unarmed people who are being slaughtered and taken hostage by Hamas. Such senseless violence will only repeat the back and forth cycle we've seen, which we cannot allow to continue. We need to call for deescalation and ceasefire," Omar wrote. "I will keep advocating for peace and justice throughout the Middle East."
Do you think privilege is an aspect of your take here? Maybe this person has a family member who recently died in a settler attack?
She spun the IDF attacked the hospital bs alongside talib. She literally said this entire war was bidens fault and called biden a war monger. Save the tears
Don't you think she could've made her point better by telling the audience how her family has suffered? Why not calmly describe the atrocities that you're facing ? Cursing and yelling at people will get you NO WHERE in life
Honestly you come off as someone who more offended at Biden being criticized than people expressing empathy for Palestinians There is no reason to take the US intelligence and Biden's word at face value on this situation. We as a country share closer cultural aspects with Israel along with economic aspects. We have the same rhetoric and propaganda when it comes to our respective militaries when it comes to concepts like collateral damage. We are friends with them. There is no reason to pretend there is some natural arbitration happening with Biden between Palestinians and Israel. We are natural allies with Israel and will hold their water.
The same Biden who had the same exact fascist rhetoric on crime in the 90s and just moves with the wind in ideological positions? That Biden?
