Do you really think that's why Vlade left and Peja wants to. Vlade left probably because he wanted to play in LA where a lot of players want to play. Peja probably wants to leave because Vlade left. Not to mention, I'm sure both of them can see that teams window of opportunity is closing. And the fact that its closing, is on Peja and Vlade, just as much as it is on Webber. Lastly, its funny how everyone remember Webb choking but forget how much Peja choke in the playoffs. Maybe Webber shouldn't want to play with him. The only players on that team who are really clutch are Bibby and Bobby Jackson. Plus, its funny how everyone forgets that it was Webber with whom they had their best shot at a ring with. Not the myth that is Brad Miller.
it's funny...if it weren't for Peja's play during the regular season, who knows what would have happened to the Kings. But if it wasn't for Webber's play (in past playoffs) the Kings wouldn't have all the hype around them. but sticking to the thread, no. i would rather have Allan Houston's contract than Webber's.
I would do this from the rox end if the team doctors checked out his knees and cleared him for the season. 1. With Spoon and Mo, we are basically paying one max contract dollar to two underachieving bench players. 2. With Webber on the team, our talent level increases enough to make us title contenders for at least the next 2 years. 3. I don't think CWebb would disrupt chemistry on the floor. His great passing would further reduce our need for a good pg, his rebounding would be a huge improvement over any pf we currently have, and his jumper would help open up the lanes for Yao. But I don't think Sactown does this deal. Still, Yao / Dike Webber / Juwan JJ / Nachbar Tmac / Sura Lue / Ward would be a fun team to watch.
We will not trade for Webber for the following reason: 04/05 - 17 mil 05/06 - 19 mil 06/07 - 20 mil, this is a player option but of course he's going to exercise it 07/08 - 22 mil Four years at approx 80 mil for a hobbling Webber is a bad deal.
everyone needs to take a look at this post before even considering webber. you want webber? consider saying goodbye to Yao in 2 years.
Please. Getting Webber does not mean that the rox lose Yao's bird rights. All it would mean is the rockets would be in luxury tax territory(if there ever will be one) for one or two years. If they aren't willing to go into that threshold for any amount of time, then they wont trade for CWebb. Never would trading for CWebb = lose Yao.
Nah. Peja and Vlade were both pissed at Webber's comments. You threw in a lot of "probably"s in there, I don't think even YOU are convinced by your argument.
Maybe i'm trying to see it as Yao might be thinking "wow..if McGrady's maxed, Webber's Maxed, and i'm Maxed, what kind of talent can be put around us? Hell, can we even fill a 12 man roster after shelling out more than half of the cap to three players?". Sure it's a good dream to have McGrady, Yao and Webber on the same team but acquiring top flight talent doesn't translate to championship rings. And if acquiring Webber and we still don't get a ring, wouldn't you think Yao might want to consider other destinations? Maybe that was what I was getting at.
Ah I see. I disagree, but it's a valid argument. Any team with enough cap space to pay for Ming is probly going to suck too though. I think we would still be able to get some players around those three using draft picks and fagency, but it may require going into a Knick/Blazer/Mav/King type payroll for a year or two. I think it's worth it for a shot at a ring, but Les may disagree.
I'm not convinced because I don't know. Just like you don't know. But I do know one thing, neither Vlade or Peja have a right to be mad about Webber's play, especially in the clutch. As far as the thread is concerned, based on Webber's injury concerns, NO. If I could count on him playing 70 games a season, then I'd do it in heartbeat. Webber would be great next to Yao and T-Mac. You guys complain that Webber doesn't want the ball in the clutch. Well isn't the player you would want with Yao and T-Mac, a player who doesn't need to be the star.
Absolutely. Webber's comments could not have been more pointed, and more and more leaks are coming out about the nearly complete disharmony in Sac's locker room. Player's don't publically demand trades unless they're hell bent at getting out of town. Evan
"I was calling out our mentality. It's time to stop playing soft and [like] suburban kids. That's what we play like. We play like we're from the suburbs, and the best basketball is played in the city." - Chris Webber
athletic if healthy will give a big boost in PF but then again he is over paid and became injury prone in the last couple of season, so i say no to C-Webb.
Anyone thinks the Kings would trade Webber for Taylor and Spoon is dreaming. Webber choked, no doubt. But that's when he's supposed to be the best player on the team. That's when he's expected to carry the team. With the Rockets, he wouldn't have to worry about all these. Webber is suitable to be a role player. And he's probably one of the best role player in the league. That said, I've never liked Webber. And his contract is atrocious.
As i've said in the past, why would you want to invest that much money in a guy who will miss at least 30 games a year? He's not going to stay healthy, all you have to do is look at the last 4 years to see what you would be getting.
I think orlando will try to do what they can to obtain webber. As much as I think he would be better than taylor and cspoon, I think we could trade those two for much more needed role players than getting another star that would probably and might hinder Yao's growth. Like others have stated, we already have two superstars that demand the ball. I think that is more than plenty. I wouldn't mind trading taylor or Cspoon for Divac but not those two to get another superstar that'll demand the ball.
You have to read "suburbs" for what it really means, white. If we were talking about toughness of neighborhoods something tells me Serbia's got it all over Michigan.
