The day he stops putting both arms open to the ref pretending it wasn't one, is the day he learns to be better. You can't get much better if you are ready to complain every time.

As much as I love Sengun, I see some mental weakness in him, which i can spot in foul throws, long range shooting, committing silly fouls. There is too much going in his head. The places where he can operate naturally, passing and post play, he is truly amazing. But it seems that now the same thing happens with him in post play too.

He should have been going through the pains of improving on offense in his first two years. And now, he probably feels pressure and is stressed. He doesn't look relaxed and comfortable for sure.

Good news is that he is hard working, determined and has overcome every issue he faced so far. His defense is much better, and his offense will certainly be much better than preseason even in the worst case scenario.

IMO the mistake rockets made was not to test his offensive potential, and on different roles, rather devoting that time to a lost cause in KPJ. I don't think you can maximize his value by improving his defense. And for testing the offense it is maybe too late. Too many options competing for the ball and a coach that want wins. I saw a lot of potential in him but now his way to achieving his peak is much harder, as he couldn't progress in the right direction the first two years.

Great post, balanced criticism and 100% true - some players, including Sengun, will be feeling pressure because the previous year or two was stagnant in developing team basketball and NBA strategies.

It's not necessarily "their fault", but it's something the team will need to address and work through and fans need to be patient.

Agreed, his performance overall has been poor. It looks like he's forcing everything, he just needs to relax and play team basketball.

I feel like that Tilman is the impatient one.

I have no problem waiting 2-3 years. Some things cannot be expedited.

It's not that he's ready to complain he genuinely believes that he is incapable of fouling. He actually thinks that he never grabs his man, lowers his hands etc. When adrenaline rushes his brain he loses his connection with present. It's like you are fighting someone and not realizing you hit someone innocent trying to intervene or realizing 5 minutes later after the fight that your shirt got torn apart. He needs to be in present not in the future not in the past. That's why he reaches the ball. He wants to touch the ball 0.1 seconds later than he should. He's impatient, can't even wait 0.1 seconds.

Well Tilman can suck it for signing trash wings on the 2019 team to save money, trading Paul for Westbrook, alienating Morey, pissing off D'Antoni, hiring Stone, hiring Silas and making KPJ his point guard. He can deal with the consequences of his actions. It requires patience to rebuild from stupid.

And writing a book about himself and muralizing himself in Toyota center before having the worst 3 season stretch in Rockets history.

You don't think it's important that he reduces his turnovers/fouls and improves his shooting? I've always thought he really needs to expand his game...if he just becomes a better version of what he was as a rookie then he has a pretty low ceiling.

Wait, I thought the Sengun fanatics insisted it was that racist "idiot" Silas who was holding Sengun back.
They told us that even a half decent coach would unlock Sengun's all-world ability.

Well, since Silas is gone, and the KPJ @ PG debacle has finally, mercifully ended, who do they point the finger at now?

Or do they finally stop throwing the rest of the team under the bus and put the onus on Sengun?

Suddenly my ignore list is very active in this thread. Apparently there are more posters who only post negatively about Sengun than posters who only post postively. We just don't get to see the negative ones often because Sengun almost overperformed all along. Two bad games and the haters are up again.

That 3411 dude has always been a total hater, if I remember correctly.

He definitely had a poor preseason, but I'm confident he will figure it out.

All you have to do is check my post history. Simple enough right?
Or are you afraid the truth won't fit your narrative?

It's wild how _______only fans will gleefully throw the team, coach, GM, and whoever else under the bus to deflect from constructive criticism of their hero.
But then they get thin-skinned when Rockets fans push back.

Except that none of that happened. Everyone can see he had a poor preseason. Nobody has blamed anyone else for it. You are making stuff up.

You really can just fill in the blank with just about anyone who has an "only" or "first" group of fans and it remains true.....player only or player first type fans are cancer to a fanbase, always have been, always will be.

Regardless of folks preconceptions about him, time will move forward.
Some narratives will play out and others wont.

While speculation and analysis can be interesting and entertaining, they can also turn into sparing matches where someone is supposed to win and someone else has to lose.

I am a fan of the former, but the later can get tiring.
